R8 landed today. This is my second Gibson , first being a 2010 r9 . Had to make the unboxing in my veterinary office so excuse my photos . First thoughts : it’s extremely light , almost as light as a Chibson i used to own a couple of years ago. The gloss finish looks good but it seems I’m so used to vos that gloss feels odd now! The overall quality is good but there are some imperfections. It seems that someone overdid it polishing the frets that scratched the fretboard. I don’t know if anyone has the same problem and if there is something I can do other than forget it and just play the d@m thing. There are also tiny cracks over the side dots on the fretboard binding but It seems it’s a usual problem the last 6-7 years or so??
overall I can’t say there is an improvement over a 2010 model, which came flawless when first bought .
the neck on this r8 is dead straight though , the setup by peach is perfect and the guitar plays well unplugged ( didn’t have amp at the office ).

I really , really cant take it home.... This guitar will live amongst dogs and cats..... maybe play it between surgeries
