I'm not very familiar with A7X - I have only one of their previous albums - but I'd read some reviews of this which sounded intriguing.
It is (presumably) a big departure from their previous work. There are echoes of Queen, ELO, Alice in Chains, Frank Zappa, Daft Punk... there's a bit of crooning in the vein of Michael Buble or Harry Connick Jr... and the whole thing ends with a classical piano piece.
They're talented bastards, for sure, but I'll have to listen a few more times to decide if I actually like it. I wouldn't have objected to a couple of dopey metal songs.
Robert Plant’s guitar player… exquisite.

Jungly dancish but great lyrics.

I never get bored of this infectious gem. Impeccable musicianship by Greg Brandin and his son. Surf-noir / pedal steel / spaghetti-western perfection - aptly described by one reviewer's wife as Ghost Riders In The Sky on Quaaludes.
Seasons End - Marillion
He can most definitely still sing though!
