You start by looking at the women's game. So much of the financial boost a few years back went into the top level with the goal of winning the World Cup. This short-term goal was achieved but it was at the price of the domestic structure going nowhere. Cricket Australia went long-term and now they're light years ahead of everyone having spent their financial boost wisely by strengthening top and bottom and making their domestic structure better.
the men's game has had the financial boost going on for years and focused on the short term goal of winning the World Cup. This was achieved by fucking over county cricket, primarily the one-day competition and the County Championship, and this will be compounded next season with the introduction of the Hundred, a competition which so far seems to be focused on rewarding Australians with fat coaching contracts.
I hope to shit that the Test-loving fraternity do everything possible to boycott the team if we get stuffed this series. Don't attend internationals, stay away from the Hundred. Nothing would send a greater message to the ECB than Pakistan and Windies series next year where there are vast expanses of empty seating.

Come down to Taunton, Haseeb. We'll get you firing.
Words fail me.
England look beyond dejected and faithless in the field, they know that Aus just have to canter another 100+ runs and it's all over save 2 dead rubber matches.
Can't see England winning this match now - Assume the Aussies will - So 2 nil up and as such they retain the Ashes
Lyons figures not very good - None for 2
Yep, 4th Test will be dead rubber
Declaration might be coming before tea
Three wickets.
Bloody hell.

"It was the fourth time in the Trevor Bayliss era that they have been bowled out for under 100; no other Test side has suffered such an indignity so often. It keeps happening. And if things keep happening, they can't be dismissed as an aberration."
and
"Ed Smith, the head selector who has pushed for Roy to open, Pope to bat at No. 4 and Denly to win an extended chance in the side, does not emerge from this situation especially well. He has previously defended his selection policy by stating "there has to be a compelling reason not to have one of your top players in the team". But such a naïve policy ignores the balance required to build a side; it ignores the specialism required at this level; it involved far too much wishful thinking. It just isn't working."
Makes Rob Smyth's column from last November look awfully smug. Which it was then and looks horrific now.

Ed Smith isn't Ferguson. He's Claudio Ranieri, one big win under his belt and a reputation for tinkering until he can tinker no more.
67... Jesus.

This is the slow pain that can be inflicted in a test match. I don't think I can watch.
I'm on the Jack Daniels, 1 litre bottle. Going on Peach Guitars and Guitars4You websites to look at expensive guitars
