That's fine if you assume there's only one piper within county cricket revenue streams. Take the 2017 Somerset income:
https://www.somersetcountycc.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2017/12/Full-set-of-signed-accounts.pdf
Out of £5.1 million income, just over £1.1 million were subscriptions/membership and gate receipts.
£2.1 million came from the ECB pool and this is why cricket funding is a bit different. There is a clear symbiotic link between counties and the ECB. Funding counties means producing players who can go on and represent England, and a successful England team means the ECB are in a better position to negotiate lucrative contracts for TV rights, sponsorship etc.
One could argue that the Hundred is an attempt to circumvent the clubs and put the squeeze on a few. No doubt the ECB would like fewer counties out there.
No support of first-class cricket would say that it pays its way. it can't do given the enormous increase in salaries since the Sky money came in from 2005. What they have asked is for the balance to be better. This clearly hasn't happened and the evidence is there in how England bat.
Also: if we killed off all areas of professional cricket that didn't pay their own way, where would this leave the women's game or U-19 cricket or 2nd XI cricket?

He looked good at the crease but it seems Root misses another opportunity to convert a 50 into a 100.
I'm not locked in here with you, you are locked in here with me.
Pontin talking shite on the Sky commentary sounding nervous.
Still a long way to go but the new ball not doing much so go at it Ben & Johnny.
Shut up you ugly twerp!
"Ben Stokes is masturbating in front of our very eyes. He went something like 75 balls before hitting a boundary today, and then flicked this away for six."
It was actually:
"Ben Stokes is maturing in front of our very eyes. He went something like 75 balls before hitting a boundary today, and then flicked this away for six."
Thank goodness for that.
That's probably it.
Some very poor stats below, only 2 English players with averages above 40. Buttler 55 runs at an average of 9. Roy has been equally awful, 57 runs in total.

Same thing for Australia as well,
http://stats.espncricinfo.com/ci/engine/records/averages/batting_bowling_by_team.html?id=12492;team=2;type=series
Bowlers fare well though. IMO, it could be said the bowling in the series has largely been very good but the batting has largely been very ordinary.
England's selection for the next test will be interesting to see whether they stick with the poorly performing batsmen or do they twist.
Bit too squeaky bum for my liking.
