  • The 2019 Memphis range looks amazing. Much lower prices than 2018, so maybe wait a few weeks....

  • The range is being condensed down, so it’ll make a lot more sense

I'm now on holiday and keep going back to this thread just to look at photos of my R8 whilst I'm away. The good news is that I've finally found true love; my fiance is less enthused about the whole thing though.....

I was not in the market for a new guitar.

I've accepted I'm unlikely to get one of these via a retailer that puts up individual pics (I don't want cherry or pot luck on the top). The odds of getting one in the tiny window they're listed are low (esp with people, trading in mind I guess, buying multiples).

So now I'm seriously looking at Eastman SB59 on Peach.

    Thank you @peachguitarsdotcom NOT.

This time a week ago, Peach still had about 9 on their site to choose from at you leisure.  ;)

have we seen the last of the 2.5k lemon tops?

These are seriously good guitars.  I've been playing Two-Face quite a bit over the last couple of days and I'm liking it more and more.  Definitely a hint of Duane Allman in the tone, due to the slightly hotter pickups in this particular guitar I suspect. The superlight (lack of) weight is giving it epic resonance which is making me play much less heavy handed than usual.  There's a wealth of subtleties in there.

I know we're talking about £2499, but what a bloody bargain these are!  An absolute keeper.  I can't wait to get some wear on tear on it, I think it'll really suit the subdued looks  :)

The Eastman SB59 is a really nice guitar. I am more than impressed with the Eastman range in general and will get one at some point down the line, whether it’s an SB59 or one of the semi hollows with P-90s.

I dont think you’ll be disappointed with one at the price point.

Yes I believe so, and there are 2018s about at £4k+.

    is there any chance of you popping up in the Hudson Broadcast thread that you have been tagged in a fair bit? @peachguitarsdotcom ;
The Bigsby was the first successful design of what is now called a whammy bar or tremolo arm, although vibrato is the technically correct term for the musical effect it produces. In standard usage, tremolo is a rapid fluctuation of the volume of a note, while vibrato is a fluctuation in pitch. The origin of this nonstandard usage of the term by electric guitarists is attributed to Leo Fender, who also used the term “vibrato” to refer to what is really a tremolo effect.

So a quick wiring question (sorry, I'm not a Gibson guy usually and just seemed to have a moment of madness)

Both vol controls are fine, but with the pickup selector in the middle (Both pickups) if the bridge pickup is up, but the neck fully off there is no sound - is that correct?

    Cheers

It’s easy to wire it so it doesn’t do it, but then you have to drop both volumes to get it silent quickly.

Also you lose a lot of treble if you wire that way. It doesn't matter so much on a Jazz Bass but you probably wouldn't want it on your Les Paul. Maybe a treble pass circuit would fix this side-effect?

Great for that Ace Frehley/Randy Rhoads machine gun sound too.

Very jealous of all these R8s.. just not in a position myself sadly.

Treble bleed is great but it won't change your life vs 50s wiring IMO. I'd take the path of least resistance in this case, no pun intended

It does indeed. I liked the 'eye' - gives it that extra character.

It us astonishingly good to play. Love the finish. Have a VOS 345 but very different.
