Are you suggesting @TeleMaster - that Everton getting Dele for £0 upfront was a bad deal?
OK, you might have a point.
Wherever did this player go ...
I'll be rooting for Liverpool.
Two of the best teams in the world, both CL royalty, both super attacking teams with entertaining styles of play. What's your prediction?
I'm thinking 3-2 Liverpool.
Looking fwd to a great game
Robertson to score the winning goal (and that's only because I can't spell Van Dijke)
Unless Bale comes on as a second half sub...
Don't think this can be considered excessive - Not sure how it stacks up v Real Madrid and indeed other top PL clubs
Jurgen Klopp since October 2015 - Net Spend: £132,950,000
43 Players Bought: £549,050,000
44 Players Sold: £416,100,000
Putting aside the small matter of the £70m goalkeeper and the £75m centre half (who earns £220k a week), Liverpool fans claiming to be the biggest and bestest club in the whole world whilst simultaneously pretending to be plucky underdogs is quite entertaining, if nothing else.
One of the things I detest the most about all of these big clubs is the pretence that they're somehow special. The reality is that they're all the same.
I've said before that I like the Ajax model, of finding/developing etc - But they will never be able to hang on to such talent, playing in such a small league - For every Foden that comes out of a youth academy and as an overview such finds are small in the PL, in the main, the big clubs want/demand instant success, so a spend spend spend policy often dictates policy over 'nurturing' youth - For every R Giggs, S Gerrard, that comes out of the youth set-up, the big spend on players from other clubs is basically par for the course - And I dare say the ability to 'purchase success' will remain so until funding changes - Look at Barca now and they are seriously skint - Will be interesting to see what the PL do shortly about Everton and their excessive losses
Will be interesting to see how Newcastle's net spend will progress over the next 3-5 years and what siverware it might bring in and/or visits to the CL
Until next season
just because you do, doesn't mean you should.
I think we should have a more challenging yardstick next season
If people wanna go and support their team they should.
The authorities started pepper spraying people including families and children indiscriminately, people who actually had tickets too. So there's no way I'm gonna have that. It's indefensible. It's their responsibility to ensure that things are safe for people in these situations, and they very much seem to have screwed this one up.
Anyway, controversies aside, Liverpool are bossing this game.
Enjoy your game and maybe do a bit of research on what's happening inside and outside the stands later on. Plenty of vids doing the rounds.
There are plenty of people saying that this escalated because there were no signs so people didn't know where to go, no stewards and the gates weren't working so people were stuck at the gates for hours and eventually got frustrated because of the huge crowds and started to climb over. What if people were being crushed? Why are people so quick to blame the fans when the organisation of this event appears to be quite poor?
It's the responsibility of the organisers to ensure that things are safe for people in these situations, and at the very least, it seems clear they very much seem to have screwed this one up.
Well done to Madrid. Stay safe Paris.
Absolute shambles. Full investigation needed, but no matter what the outcome there is no need for indiscriminate tear gas unless it is a last resort to protect against serious injury or major disorder ie rioting. Just completely wrong to throw tear gas near men, women and children, who are little or no threat to the police or authorities.
If any fans were involved in any wrongdoing they should be ashamed. Possibly there were some, but I doubt very much anywhere near the numbers that required the need for tear gas use.
