I've been waiting to ask this, even though it could have been asked anywhere...

What's the deal with the saddle screws facing toward the neck and not the tailpiece?

It makes it difficult for intonation and my big fingers. But most importantly, which orientation is vintage correct? I assume new USA models come with screws facing towards the tailpiece?

I know this is a quick Google away, but hey!

Saddle screws to neck is period correct ABR1 bridge. To the tail is Nashville, also a thicker bridge. The thickness and the screws mean you usually can’t lower the tail right to the body, and doing that equals moar tones as everyone knows

They couldn’t have made them look any worse. And they were probably the last guitar company out there to jump on the finish over finish look… even with all that info out there they still managed to make them look ridiculous.

Hey! Glad to see that this is still alive.. I was wondering.. what amp are you poring your Peach R8? I have been playing with a Fillmore.. but i was thinking getting a King Tone MkII.. perhaps a Dumble Clone? What is your fav pair for your R8?

JCM800 for me, as cliché as that sounds! It's just an immense pairing.

Wish I'd held onto mine seeing the way prices have gone. I did spend the money on a used Custom but there is a part of me that wants another burst

There is a real '59 burst for sale at Vintage and Rare in Bath at the moment, and it has the gap between the pickup and the fingerboard that I remember some people being unhappy about

I told the other half this was an “investment” when I bought it, so I wonder if that is turning out to be correct!

Yeah you’ll make a profit now, despite some idiots trying to say these were some sort of factory seconds to get money off (they were not, which I know for fact).

I’ll never sell mine. Not only is it my favourite guitar but to get another will cost me the thick end of £5k now if I want the same experience of trying a few rather than taking a punt on a used one.

I’ve also got a custom 345 that again I won’t sell because I got it for £2300 about 3 yrs ago new on a crazy deal

I think inflation will start to bite soon and send prices shooting up again. I'd say a high end Gibson is safer than cash right now. Having said that I'm no economist, more a pessimist
