I'm sorry... HOW much for a remote control bomb?

TWO HUNDRED GRAND??!!
I reckon these arms manufacturers are taking the piss big time.
I reckon I could knock one of those up in no time for no more than £6K - plus explosives.
What do you reckon you could build one for?

An unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV or drone) can cost from a couple of hundred quid to several millions.

It's a bit like referring to all multi wheeled road going vehicles as 'cars' & ignoring the difference between a Reliant Robin & a Bugatti Veyron
yup, 6K before payloads sounds right..,. ;-)
maybe Harley Benton could make them.
SLdV - Ah, Arms Dealer, my very good friend and co-owner of said business via umbrella company, we would be happy to pay us, sorry, I mean you £200,000 per bomb. Sound fair?
AD - Seems fair, a ha ha ha
I can imagine a drone costing 10x that amount. The people who make it are also in the business to make money. They are not sold at cost to the US government, or any government.
There must be enough for a book by now, surely?

How long till this thread gets flagged at MI5? We could run it as a sweepstake raising funds for the forum upkeep.
expensive bits:
-Electronic counter measures to prevent it being Jammed. these are neither cheap nor easy to make or made in particular high numbers (read expensive)
-Communications equipment. Both Transmitters and receivers on multiple digital bands, including satellite comms. This allows the drone to be communicated with. These will have to be immensely powerful as the ocean has a habit of creating lots of waves that disrupt radio frequencies.
-Inertial navigation system, generally built upon complex and accurate gyroscopic elements.. think swiss watch levels of mechanical complexity. or a MEMS system which is a solid-state version- also expensive.
-GPS transmitter/receiver for navigation in concert with the INS. not cheap as mil spec ones have access to the better unlocked GPS signal and the device needs to be as un-hackable as possible.
- several imaging systems. most likely, Thermal/ optical and enhanced night vision with associated high bandwidth comms system to transmit.
- some form of computer
-some form of targeting system using all the associated sensors on board.
relatively cheap bits
main explosive fill
booster
chassis
detonators and redundancy detonators
remote distruction charge.
motor
fuel-
that drone has been highly successful against a country that is renowned for its strong electronic warfare equipment. there is no way that drone can be built for £6k. the programming alone for the targeting system would cost that.
Save your money Emp, Skoda already make one, I'd recommend one of them.
