Tomorrow, or Good Friday anyway, is the 40th anniversary (that I can pin down to an actual day) of being with mrsrlw.

It's a long time and so much has changed about me and about life in general that it really does feel like a life time ago.

Bumping this because a) we all need a bit of positivity right now, and b) I just finished a massive project that's taken the last 2.5 years, and was the first thing I was put in fully charge of after my last promotion. Huge milestone and an even bigger relief to have it off my plate.
    WIS for the bump !

And I'd add a Wow for your news if I could - well done - there's too many projects that get abandoned, great to have the sense of accomplishment.

Imagine something sharp and witty here ......

Cheers. A lot of what I work on is either 6 weeks or several years, so it’s great to have something meaty actually get completed in full. Hopefully a bunch of new work coming out of it with the same client as well. But for now, wine and sleep!

in celebration of the smiley happy thread :)
today I weigh 11kg less than I did this time last year [that is 24lbs in old money].
indeed I weigh less now than I did back in the summer of 2006.
what little of me there is left, which, to be fair, is still rather a lot, is feeling somewhat proud and accomplished.
wishing you all a very happy Easter

Ah, but Cowell is returning as head judge of a musical themed game show. Winners can cash out or return the following week to battle on and win more money.

Did you really think Cowell would go quietly?

He is the Freddy Krueger of light entertainment. He keeps coming back.  :3

Far too loud, 60 people playing different songs in different time singnatures and keys, mostly wrong, and everyone blaming @bridgehouse because he's on bass.

Actually, I offered to do the wedding band for him and he rejected it out of hand saying I had other responsibilities during the day. I'm not sure what I have to do other than make sure the missus has enough hankies.

Getting sick of current job and all my favourite people are leaving for better offers with competitors. I had 2 interviews last week and one confirmed during the call that they want to hire me to be commercial manager for their new subsidiary provided they can sort out the structure of the new entity quickly enough to get me an offer. It’s in green hydrogen (among other things) and right up my street.

    Fingers crossed!

    Thread resurrection!

    This week was pretty good.

Been told were getting orders for two chunky and interesting jobs I designed; one is an events sound & light system for a sports/multifunction hall, the other is a corporate HQ but with three LED walls and eight subwoofers in one room, which should be at least mildly impressive.

Also I've mostly got the hang of working with arrays in Visual Basic. Yay me etc.

    Congrats.

My smiley today is while out for a run this morning I was part of a group of random passers by who stopped all the traffic on a main road to allow two swans and their many offspring cross to a river without getting squashed.

Happy to report nobody suffered a broken arm in the process.

@Sporky very happy to see this thread brought back!

I helped my son to learn to ride a bike this week. We had tried a while back and it didn't go so well, but this time he picked it up brilliantly and really loves riding. Within 3 sessions he had the hang of it and he's been out riding every day having fun with his older sister.

I'd say it's the "peak dad" experience. You feel so proud.

There had been a few comments about the place being/becoming a bit negative. I figured restarting CB's brilliant thread could help balance things out.

    Also I like boasting.

This morning I got my favourite writing thing, Scrivener, up and running on the Linux laptop.  I wasn't fully confident cos Scrivener is supposed to be Windows and Mac only so I was following someone's work around and I'm not a geek, just someone who wants to make the transition from Windows.  Anyway, it works!  So that's it, I don't think need Microsoft for anything any more, so that W10 laptop could die now and I should be okay.

yesterday I became sixty seven years of age.
my age is something I cherish and hopefully will continue to do so for some considerable time although whether it brings me wisdom is something I joyfully ask myself everyday as some bits of me creak with overuse but others just sag with indifference.
I do however remain confident that I will continue to make progress if I apply myself with some diligence and a splash of good humour ...
I am an embodiment of contradictions and most definitely still a work in progress but hopefully a little care and compassion and a sprinkling of good manners has made my company bearable, if not particularly exciting, for those who have shared it.
Ambition is forged on a daily basis as I go about the routines which form the structure of my life and I am in good health, all things considered, and intend to continue to be so for some considerable time.
and by the way I still play a mean guitar, if you like that sort of thing ...
