@TTony I'm happy to do vocals on one or both Fortunate Sons as needed if nobody else steps up, have fond memories of this from Northampton!
We have to be so very careful, what we believe in...

I love how I suggested singing some more and suddenly the thread goes quiet :)

I've lost my singing voice to a Chest infection which is now on it's third go round at me since Christmas.
That's on top of me having COPD already so for the RW Vocal on 'Comfy', please can someone else do this?

I'll play guitar all day long but right now just talking puts me out of breath and I can't see it improving enough to sing on the day.

Sorry guys but all this won't stop me going at all, just stops me singing when I get there and lets see how my voice is before I start doing jam workshop group tutorials and such.
If I'm alright on the day then I'll do some tutorial stuff in another room and break down songs and riffs, explain them and unlock the fretboard (Most of the time for most of the people) but I'll leave that as an impromptu thing if I'm well enough to talk and have that much energy.

Yeah, no probs @Alnico - tbh the DG bit might be a touch high for me, so if anyone else wants it, be my guest.  Otherwise it might be an octave down.  ;)

Wing it/invent something, no one's bothered.

& on that basis I'm happy to contribute a few bars if needs be.

Ah the magic of pentatonic shape 1!

The solo tutorial on guitartricks.com is pretty detailed but proprietary sadly.

It's a slide solo based on the open d g and b strings. So play something around those three strings at the 12th fret on the G and go with the changes which is 1 4 5 12 bar. If you want I'll show you how to play slide, just look for the middle aged guy with an expensive guitar.

I've seen you play slide before. Learning to Fly at Leicester :)

I'm getting on with it now. I've actually dug out my slide and it doesn't appear to be as tricky as I thought. Just my slide technique needs polish!

I can see how that would work.

Do you need to polish the slide itself, or the strings?

  • Don't use any polish with beeswax - it makes the strings sticky.

apologies I misread the author in all the quotes and thought it was pmbomb. Yes we met at quad. Try damping behind the slide, use a brass one and don't polish it.

If I remember rightly you were on top form - your bass playing was spot on and Your guitar well exceeded your own expectations and was great.

If so - concussion is a good thing!

thank you for the kind words but I'm not going to ask you to smack me over the head with a Precision in June.

    FREE GUITAR CLEANING

I'll be doing one of my favourite things on this day, cleaning guitars and conditioning fretboards.

This is a possible precursor to something that may happening for the benefit of tFB and all of us forumites.

    Any (relevant) questions?
