The Chris Squire Mouradian-style 4-string bass just completed.

Spec is:
34" scale
Mahogany body, chambered
Maple / Rosewood / Maple neck
Rosewood fretboard
MoP swift inlays (my logo)
Magnetic catches on control chamber and truss rod cover
Schaller lightweight tuners
DiMarzio Model One neck; Warmouth MM overwound bridge
Passive with 3 way switch, 2 vols, 2 tones with series / parallel / split for each pickup
Chamber at back to house SmoothHound wireless Tx

This is sublime. I need a new bass. I have an Aria P bass but need a Jazz type bass. Nothing too fancy as I play bass like, well, a guitar player! Just for laying down bass on recordings. Don't want to spend more than a couple hundred quid,would you recommend an HB bass? Hope you're well and busy. Been too long. To cut a long story very short, I'm going through a hard time with messy divorce etc. Nuff said really.

OK - this one is going to be a bit of a marmite example. It's the ultra-modern bass spec'd by and built for Mick, from the basschat forum. Handed it over yesterday and he's very, very pleased with it

34" scale
Integrated fretboard and body, radiused at 20"
Piezo under saddle; custom individual magnetic coils (hidden); John East MPM-02 blend
Sycamore / maple / ebony construction
Modified headless tuner system
Master vol; blend; piezo tone; magnetic tone
DR Neon White strings
7lbs 4oz

The finish is Osmo Raw 3044 - silky smooth finish and designed specifically to preserve the freshly sanded colour of the woods.

To everyone's surprise it sits absolutely right on the strap and over the knee....that bit was definitely fluke

One I did ages ago, very light and resonant. Was a bit of an experiment, pine body with maple top and bids eye maple neck and faux scraped binding

It has now checked quite a lot, maybe with being in storage and moving

Mustangs Alley.....

All started with a spur of the moment purchase of the Blue Squier Bullet Mustang, whch got modded....
Which then saw me recyling a Bullet Mustang neck onto a Custom Swamp Ash Guitarbuild Mustang body, which became Orange!
Then I imported another Custom P90 body from the US sprayed Sea Foam Green, which is fitted with a 25.5" scale Allaprts Strat neck.....
Is fair to say I have developed a bit of a thing for Mustangs....there are two more in the pipeline...

Latest build - this one for my own use, is a 6-string electric version of the lightweight piccolo bass I built last year for our band's bassist.

It's finished at just under 6lbs. A bit heavier than planned - I was aiming for 5 1/2 lbs. The next one will get there

I've finally finished* the first project guitar i ever started...

Its a parts Ibanez swirl n the vai style. Evo pups and Dimarzio switch/wiring, dog old ibanez body and neck (with inlay decal - don't judge me!), and paint and such. I've been coming back to it and fettling it on / off for a loooooong time, but decided to give it a big push towards completion..

My first build. I was originally going to get a kit but decided to have a go from scratch after finding some nice sapele 4x2s and 3x1s for sale.
Not perfect, and not a patch on the beauties from the likes of @miserneil and the other geniuses on here, but it plays quite nicely (final setup still to do).
The hardware is all cheapo Chinese, with a view to swapping it out later as necessary. Cost so far (not including a few tools, as I'll use those again) is around £130, so not much of a risk.
Sorry for the poor photo (cheap phone).

Thanks @miserneil - the body is 4 pieces of sapele all cut from a 4x2 (well, 95 x 45mm once squared up) with lovely grain patterns both back and front. The neck is laminated from 3 pieces of 90 x 30mm with tight, straight grain. I fell in lucky, got all the wood for under £30 and still have quite a bit left. I joined the forum too late to have done a build thread, might do a retrospective one if I can find time and if anyone might be interested. Thanks for posting, I appreciate your comments.

As I'm relatively new here I thought I'd just back fill with a selection of some of the bits of wood I've hacked up and screwed together over the years. A search for my user name over on Ultimate Guitar will probably turn up the build threads. That's where I used to hang out until I saw the light and migrated over here.

Clockwise from top, centre...

First build project. An old Marlin refinished with a spalted drop top. Single humbucker, volume, kill switch.
A skinny LP made as a form experiment from pine blocks and finished with Plastikote stone effect. Since disassembled.
A parts-caster based on an MDF Rockster guitar body I saw on eBay and took a shine to. This is probably the most flexible guitar I own, being the only one with a non-locking trem.
Copy of a Music Man/Wolfgang shape from a slab of spalted beech I picked up at a woodcraft fair. Dreadful, spongy stuff. I still have enough to make two or three more guitars.
A Jem inspired superstrat. 3 rail humbuckers, individually switched for full-split-off. Super flexible but it turns out I mostly use the bridge in humbucking mode with very occasional addition of the middle in split mode for a bit of a twang.
Imitation Jim Root Tele, because I wasn't forking out even the Squier price for my drummer step-son who suddenly thought he might quite like to play guitar too.

I've used Iron Gear pickups in all my projects and never been disappointed.

I'm slowly getting better but I'm afraid I've reached the point where I definitely have too many guitars. But there's still things I want to make. Like a neck - I've yet to build a neck from scratch. It's a dilemma.

Questionable paint job in places, but this was a fun one to make.

Got the body for £38 because it needed a lot of work doing to it. Got a neck from Northwest Guitars, Bare Knuckle Flat 50's and a cheap bridge. Will upgrade parts over time, but I'm fairly pleased with it!

This my first build using Mark Bailey's "Build your own Guitar" online course.
The body and neck are Black Limba, bought separately on eBay. I decided to buy a ready radiused and slotted rosewood fingerboard off Mark as I felt this was important to get accurate for a beginner builder. I already had a router but also bought a bandsaw, which has proved invaluable.
The shape was based on Mark's plans but very slightly altered. I found the course easy to follow for a novice, though I watched each video many times until I understood what I was doing. I also measured every step numerous times to avoid errors. The neck was sanded until it felt a nice profile with a thickness similar to my favourite Tele. The most stressful part was sanding the neck angle. It worked out Ok but would have liked the bridge about 5mm lower. The body was finished with Crimson Finishing Oil. An Oil City Firewatch P90 pickup and all black hardware finish the job.
I was worried about the weight as the body blank weighed about 12lbs to start with. The complete guitar tips the scales at 7lbs so perfect.

Total cost around £300
