Presented with a piece of wood of unknown species and strength and no thicker than a pickup, my challenge was to design build a workable bass with it.

It actually had its first professional gig last night with the player/owner supporting LerBurn Maddox

There was my Wave Guitar project, started back in 2013:

That's the guitar as it is now, fitted with a set of Entwistle XS62N pickups - there are push-pulls to reverse the phase of the bridge pickup, and to keep the neck pickup on so I can get all 7 pickup combinations - it works very well, and gets a very nice range of tones. The thread seems to have suffered "the Megii effect" i.e. I post, and everything goes uncomfortably quiet.

But there must be loads more cool forum project builds out there, so let's have 'em, don't be shy.

Here's one a couple from over the last year - still got the hb35 so start and a gold steinberger to do this summer.

OLP VH - it was black and relic'd so I stripped it to brewed , refinished reset the neck with shims, fitted some duncans and it's great.

I also stripped back a les paul standard - it used to be green now it's had a strip back to wood, some amber stain to bring out the grain and sprayed a nitro lacquer burst, with a pair of bareknuckle emeralds to finish it off.

The recently finished walnut re-body of a Peavey EVH. Full build thread is here.

Solid walnut body, rosewood binding with a boxwood feature-stripe. Catswhisker P90's fitted with a boost coil on both neck and bridge. Neck and other hardware taken from donor guitar.

Owner is very pleased with it

Here's my little detachable neck travel guitar built mainly from workshop scraps - sycamore veneer on plywood top with a body routed from solid. 90% (22.5") scale and only 14 frets means it will fit in a standard airline cabin bag.

MJT body, no name neck, GFS "Wide Tone" pick-ups (which I'm hugely impressed by).

It's been finished for a couple of months and I'm still loving it.

May write something about the trials and tribulations I had getting everything to fit if I ever find time!
