OK, so having actually looked at the listing and kicked this around amongst mates:

    a) the seller was being a wee bit sneaky with the photos (if you look on a small screen and don't enlarge them, you could easily miss the marks which clearly look much worse in real life), but they do also state it's marked

    b) the intial "manufacturing marks" thing and goalpost shift is also just so much woo

    c) despite that, the whole thing should have been done and dusted at "discount or I'll return it", "That's fine, return it for a refund", "OK, I will" not dragged into a pissing contest.

    Whoa, withdraw the pitchforks guys...

This happens too often on here, and remember @Th4fonz is one of our own.

Nice and calm and let's be nice eh ? :)
I don't think anyone's tone towards him has been anywhere near as aggressive and confrontational as what he himself has chosen to publish of his own communications.

I just love it when people mistakenly think they're the one who comes off well in a series of chat logs

  • Seller has been totally fair in my opinion. He accepts his photos were not perfect, and that they should have been more comprehensive. He than offers an instant resolution, which is that you return the item for a full refund. I don't think you can be fairer than that. The buyer clearly appears to be attempting to bully the seller into providing a discount, then becomes aggressive and threatening when he doesn't get his own way.

  • Shocking behaviour from the OP. Totally uncalled for! It sounds like you've spat your dummy out because he wouldn't knock any money off an already well priced pedal ...

Also, i'd love to buy you a dictionary or at least chip in for one! What's ure Paypal?

Well done Chris from Pedal Pawn. Levels of patience few are capable of. I could never work in customer service.

I'm sorry dude, but your attitude was very pedantic, it seems you wanted the discount and because you didn't get it you went Karen mode.

Chris offered you a refund and he apologized about the photos (Which I agree could be better described) that's pretty much what a store can do if he doesn't see the discount as an option.

So your attitude is wrong here.

Sorry OP but you clearly come across as a compete twat.

The guy offered you a full refund but you kept going back at him like a brat. ‘I’m gonna tell the Fretboard’ Jeez, grow the fuck up.

I’m glad I don’t have to work in customer service any more. Dealing with OP-esque behaviour daily is enough to knock anyone’s sanity.

I’m off to buy some pedals.

  • I think the seller is totally fair in offering you a refund.  To be honest, on the listing, I zoomed in on my phone and could see the marks. I they might not have been photographed too clearly but if I bought that from the photos and description is not be unhappy at all.

In afraid to say @Th4fonz I think your comments come across as aggressive whereas you could have just accepted their offer of a refund.  Perhaps if you'd have been more understanding,  they might have been willing to negotiate a bit.

I'm not really following your issue here? The poster has been rude, aggressive and unreasonable. He's also trying to drag a perfectly legitimate sellers name through the mud for absolutely no reason. Are you advocating that he shouldn't be called out on his behaviour simply for just being a member of this forum?

Seems to me that the seller did exactly the right thing and offered the requested refund, and everything that followed was totally unnecessary escalation - it comes across as though OP didn't actually want a refund but tried to use the threat of it to get money off, and was put out when the seller (rightly) called his bluff.

FYI, this discussion has been flagged, so we're keeping an eye on it for pitchforks and other tomfoolery. Keep it clean, gents.

Would you do the same thing if the OP had his wishes and the criticism was aimed at PP?

  • Too easy to judge, too often we pitchfork, so many times we take an opposing keyboard stance…

We’re better than this as a forum, imho.

The general consensus seems to be that the OP was being a bit of a dick in his original exchange. By this measure, chances are that the OP was being a bit of a dick in his original exchange.

    No pitchforks in attendance here.

I really do think this thread is just people voicing their reasons for not joining in the pitchforking the OP was trying to instigate on Pedal Pawn, but fair play for being a voice of calm.

I don't mean to be piling on but I'm struggling to understand why you didn't just return it for a refund?

Think the criticism of the OP is legit and reasoned for the most part and the OP for some questionable reason thought it would be a good idea to share this interaction with us.

Depressing how entitled some people are these days. Guy apologies and offers full refund immediately and it's still not good enough.

We're entitled to refunds if a product bought online doesn't meet our expectations but not to just pick a price out of the air for what we want to pay for something.

    Edit: correcting typo

OP is being super aggressive in his tone in his messages, all over some scratches, after being offered a refund.

Then went on “I’ll ask the builder and show it all out to the internet”.

If you are going to do that, at least learn to be calm and collected.  It comes across very Karen like, what makes it really really bad for the OP is the offer for a refund was right there straight away.

That’s bad form OP, and the customer isn’t always right you know.
