Any volunteers?
I suggest you publish the final song list (which can be updated later if needed) and ask for people to start signing up for the songs they are interested in.

This is the moment to confirm (or reconfirm for some) which tracks you are interested in being part of the house band for, and the band role(s) you would like to take for each track (remembering that popular tracks will be performed more than once, so please just step forward and don't be put off if someone puts their hand up for the role you would like before you do).

I'd also be happy to play bass on Keep Your Hands to Yourself, Rocks (again!), Rebel Rebel, and Is She Really Going Out With Him, if nobody else is chomping at the bit to take these on.

1) uncertainty over whether changes in COVID case rates will bring new social distancing and/or travel restrictions from the UK Government and/or Welsh Assembly.
2) a five hour round trip to, possibly, play on a handful of songs.
3) not knowing most of the nominated songs on the list. (To the extent of never having heard the majority of them.) My musical tastes are somewhat at variance to the majority.
4) lacking much inclination to even find audio copies of those songs, let alone attempt to learn how to play them.
5) appreciating that others may be similarly disinclined to learn any song suggestions of mine.
6) observing the lack of communications traffic in this thread. (Activity should be accelerating not grinding to a halt.)
7) family stuff.
Some of the items listed above are entirely my own responsibility. Things are unlikely to improve unless I give myself a firm kick up the arse. I am unlikely to apply much effort to learning songs on the list unless I see evidence that other subscribers are also working towards the shared goal.

I have already started learning a bunch of the songs, but I don't think anybody wants to hear a bass solo version ...

Next step, I have to nominate two songs.
I've got barely any time off even over the summer holidays and will definitely be trying to have a full rest week before hitting the busy autumn and winter season in schools.
There's a very slim chance I might be available at short notice, in which case I might rock up, sling you some money and have a jam in the second room...but it's extremely unlikely.
Also, just by way of feedback, and echoing other comments, I'm not hugely inspired by a lot of the songs being outliers/ niche personal favourites.
In my experience of running many of these jams, they tend to work better if the songs are generally quite well known.
That's absolutely not a criticism, just an observation that it could also be putting others off.

At least with well known songs, you'll have an idea of what it should sound like before you start breaking it down.

Just because you're paranoid, don't mean they're not after youSo we can scrub Get the Funk Out and Hot For Teacher off the list - replace with You Really Got Me (Kinks/Van Halen, 5 chords, nice and easy and we did it last time) plus Johnny B Goode Those should be ok for people just to turn up and play I hope, with little/no prep?
This is more where my head is at.
I am not criticising the song choices either. What I am doing is admitting that I am too lazy to learn and practice some of them into presentable shape.
Some times, the music in a song is very simple but the feel needs to be right. I do not want to disappoint other participants by ruining their song choices.
