For heavy how about Godzilla, either the Blue Oyster Cult or Fu Manchu version. Well, they're the same but different speeds and keys
I was actually thinking of suggesting Asphalt Risin by Fu Manchu. Just listened to Godzilla sounds cool. Anything like this, yes.
Ha what a coincidence. Okay I'll learn it on guitar/bass. Scott Hill uses a Univox Superfuzz which is basically a Behringer SF300 but without the tone controls. Bax Music have these on sale for £16 at the moment

    Another coincidence - I bought a SF300 a couple of weeks ago. It's a lot of fun.

Purchasing kit for one song at a jam - I like your commitment ;)

Probably should get a separate songs thread up and running now, to keep logistic and artistic discussions separate.

I propose that we should postpone it until some date in the future.

    I agree.

In fact, as I'm now already having to cancel sessions to be rearranged for later in the year, I'd imagine my availability once things are back to normal will plummet.

I haven't yet paid the venue.  I'm not necessarily in favour of cancelling just because of coronavirus as 10 of us or so aren't likely to spread the virus much, and the social wossname, is to slow down the impact, not to stop the 30-60% catching it - and as the peak is thought to be June(ish) and the viris will be around for most of the year (and that's assuming some form of immunity kicks in), then perhaps we should be carrying on as normal, within the bounds of sense.............but I stand to be corrected if the group feels otherwise :)

we have the option of retaining the June date (hoping things improve more quickly than forecast) but also negotiate a fall-back date for say September

  • At this stage, I'm going to withdraw myself from the June date either way. I'm going to lose a shit ton of money with postponed and cancelled sessions, and I'm going to need to tighten my belt.

I certainly can't afford to essentially do my job, for free, several hundred miles away. I'm already looking at doing some local 1:1 recording workshops for some of my long term clients at a reduced rate, just to keep the money coming in.

Sorry to all, but I have to take sensible decisions and minimise my costs.

I'm afraid I am withdrawing as well.

Regardless of the small number of people attending I just don't think it is something we should be doing.
If people still want to do it then I, of course, respect that decision.

I'll rule myself back in if there is a huge change for the better but for now I want to be erring on the side of caution.

Given the significant restrictions announced by Boris yesterday would like to suggest that we move the date of this event back (maybe to the end of September)?

agreed- suggest we avoid any dates at the moment as it's not clear how long this will run for.  I had better make refunds because there's no guarantee that we'll see this out financially as we are self employed..........ho fucking ho etc.    It'll take me a few days to get around to it as I'm under pressure with Sue (wife) just having had a foot operation and thusly immobile and an elderly relative with end stage COPD.  Happy days etc

Sadly agree. Just do the refunds as/when @nickp , or hold onto it until next time...you've got more important things to worry about!

Ugh this whole thing is just horrible isn't it. I'm going to order a fuzz factory kit from pedalparts.com, that should keep me going in isolation for a few weeks

if I have left anyone ouit please shout - and later tonight have raise a glass to the future and lets hope we are all around to do the Jam "on the other side"
