    Apparently, the actual center of the UK is Haltwhistle, a good bit north of Huddersfield, on hadrians wall. 

    I suspect that includes counting some northern islands though.

    No argument there - but Huddersfield is pretty much central to the 9 largest cities in the UK, from London in the South, to Glasgow & Edinburgh in the North (ignoring whatever happens north of G&E!).

    No location will ever work for anyone, but my recollection of the Huddersfield jam session was that it (a) quickly filled up with attendees and (b) drew in people from a reasonable geographic area. 

    If we arranged something in Camden, we'd get people in Islington complaining about how far it was, and people in Croydon who'd argue that they'd never travel North of the river.

    @TTony just joshing, it's an excellent choice of location, makes a lot of sense and thanks for stepping up.

    I'm a Southerner born and bred and it's plain as my nose that the assumed centre of gravity of the country being London and SE damages everyone.

    TBH, I was surprised when I looked at it and realised that Huddersfield is effectively the mid point for the UKs largest 9 cities.  

    London then skews everything though when you accept that it alone is bigger than the other 8 combined!
