After repeated warnings about engaging in an argument across multiple threads, there are ways to make your point and ways to not make your point.

It’s the opinion of the Modmin team that the following ways aren’t wise:

- Repeated flagging with increasing demands on the modmin team
- Telling the Forum Admin to “fook off”
- Calling @Roland “Ron”.

Of course, the final one of these is most serious, as Roland is clearly not a “Ron” at all.

Our Classified rules https://www.thefretboard.co.uk/discussion/49022/thefretboard-classifieds-rules-v2-0 clearly state that:

“The Classifieds are intended for personal use. If you are a business/dealer contact a moderator to discuss how you could get involved here. Ads that breach these rules will be deleted. Posters that repeatedly breach the rules may be banned.

In our view, and in the spirit of the forum, we define a dealer as anyone who uses the forum primarily (ie you don't get involved elsewhere in the forum or make any other contribution to the forum) as a platform for selling to an extent that it's unlikely the sales are of personally owned, and used, equipment. This will be our judgement call rather than a pre-defined limit.”

@JonDixon35 either hadn’t read this, or thought that it didn’t apply to him. His Classified access has been removed.

User BDJohnson has been banned. After a busy morning posting links to tin hat conspiracy theories, and then ranting when his thread was closed, he was due for a spell in the cooler.

However, on closer inspection it turns out this is his second attempt to pollute us with tinhattery - his first go, user Brian Johnson was binned a while back, for posting yet more tinhattery.

He may think his banning is a conspiracy, but it’s not - he’s banned for multiple accounts, and the unimaginative names he’s chosen really didn’t make it hard to link the two...

Raw lumber vs bought in parts thread has gone.

As a discussion, it was doomed from the off. It was clearly an attempt to have a snide dig at some businesses, and that’s not acceptable.

It’s been retained in an admin area of the forum - so we have a record of it.

This sort of discussion won’t happen again, because that would be carrying over an argument from another thread, and that’s against the rules.

You have all been warned. Any more and we will put a stop to it pretty quickly. We aren’t as green as we are cabbage looking.

Chris78 is spending a week in the cooler.

This is an opportune time for him to spend some time contemplating his contributions - in particular, it’s an opportunity for him to consider his passive aggressive postings, his wholesale derailing of most threads in the coronavirus section, and put some consideration to what is meant by “not carrying over arguments from one thread to another”.

I suspect that he will find the cooler hard going, given his dislike for imposed restrictions and lockdowns, but it’s for the greater good of the community.
