    Finally solved it! On a Windows PC you need to press the space bar after pasting the link from Imgur and then the picture appears instantly

    Haha. It was just the glow light. Nobody is allowed heat in my house unless it’s -5  ;)

    I am following the instructions: get correct link from Imgur, hit the folded over bit of paper icon, past and hit space, and nothing happens. What am I doing wrong?

    ok I figured it out - I need the BBC code but have to delete the img bits, there is no correct link (or none I can find) that works 'out of the box' so I'll have to edit the link in Text Edit before using it here. Not exactly straightforward ...

    hi @TTony I'm using Safari on a Macbook Air running Big Sur. As I said in the post above I can't get any of the links offered by Imgur to display an image. I do get a result when I copy the link labelled BBC code which starts and ends with (img) and manually remove the (img) at the beginning and end before posting it into the image link box. 

    I also run a German keyboard in case that matters. 

    Many thanks for your support!

    Maybe I should try a different browser and computer as well but it seems I've found a workaround.

    @NPP ;; - just fired up my MacBook/Safari and Imgur errors on me - can't even get to my images to test out what's going on.  I'm guessing that might be a privacy setting thing because it's working fine on Windows and iOS.

    One thing that does trip people up sometimes is this part of the process;

    • Top right of the homescreen is a little (round) button with your initials/avatar.
    • Click that button, and from the drop down, select Images.


    Access your images by doing the above,  *not* from your Imgur account homepage.  Select the image you want to embed, then Copy the link in the Direct Code box and paste here via the page-with-turned-over-corner dialog box


    And that should be that.

    @TTony this is where I may be going off track then, right from the beginning. I don't have an Imgur account, I just upload the picture and get the link. Given that I've just started a project (that's the pic I uploaded) I'd like to document on here I should probably set up an Imgur account now.

    I think any of the usual hosting sites require you to at least specify the address/reference for each image separately, so a separate direct link for each.
