How to post pics, Imgur

Imgur is one of the easier hosts to use, whether directly from the site via a browser, or through its iOS/Android app.

From Windows/OSX devices and iPad, via a browser

Login to your account at imgur.com
Top right of the homescreen is a little (round) button with your initials/avatar.
Click that button, and from the drop down, select Images.
This now displays thumbnails of your images/albums.
Click on the image you want to embed and it opens in a new window with a list of 7 options on the RHS.
Click on "Copy" next to the Direct Link option.
Back to the forum, and "paste" the copied link into the attach image/file pop-up.

Because he's a really helpful guy, @jonathangus made a video to demonstrate the how-to. Just read the whole thread, because there was a little "gotcha" in the process.

From iPad, via Imgur app

Click on "Profile" in the bottom right corner of the screen
Click on the image that you want to share here
Then click it again so that it opens in its own window, with only the small "upload" icon in the bottom centre
Click that icon and select "Copy Link"
Back to the forum and "paste" the copied link into the attach image/file pop-up
Press space - do not press enter - to insert the image into your post.

From Android, via the Imgur app

From the main page of the imgur app on your phone, make sure that the "posts" option is selected.
Then click the image you want to share so that it displays on the screen.
*** Click it again (the image now displays in the middle of the screen, row of 4 icons along the bottom of the screen) ***
^^^ This is the critical step! You must be on the screen with the 4 icons - comment/like/download/share - at the bottom.
The right-most icon is the "share" icon. Click it.
That opens another screen, with the image link shown at the top.
NB, the image link will end .jpg (or other image file extension).
Guess what ... tap the "copy" button!
Back to the forum, "paste" the link into the attach image/file pop-up.

Here is how you post a photo.

First, make sure you photo is a reasonable size, something less than 1mb and preferably less than 1000 pixels wide. It's okay if you don't know how to do that, we can fix that later.

So you have your photo, head over to www.imgur.com

Either register a free account or go ahead and click COMPUTER.

I like registering an account so you can always go back to it.

Then choose your photo that you want to upload.

Then go ahead and click Start Upload

Then this screen pops up, showing the image you have uploaded and HTML Image (Websites & Blogs) and copy that link, if you click on that little white icon where it says copy (it pops up), it will copy it to your clipboard.

If you create an account, you can see all the photos (max 4 pages) that you have uploaded in the past for easy access.

Oh, I want to add, if the image you uploaded is too big, bottom right where it says Sizes, just click Large, Thumbnails etc. This will AUTOMATICALLY change the link above to suit. Then click HTML Image again to copy that to the clipboard.

If you want to resize.

move your mouse to the lower part of the box here.

Click Edit image.

Then you can change the size of the image, make sure the lock proportions are box is ticked, change the long side to say 1000 pixels. the Apply, then Save.

The iPhone app that i use is call Imgupr

After you have taken your pictures (or load up the app and take the pictures), pick one, depending. Here I have already taken a photo so I just Choose Photo.

Go ahead and click Upload.

Next screen will be this, you now click Get embeded codes

Same sort of things comes up, tap on the HTML Image again and DONE.

Whats more amazing, if you have an account, the mobile upload goes straight to your account, so you can access and see them all on your computer, as you can see here.

I can't get either direct links or HTML links to embed on this forum. Any guesses on what the problem might be - is there a maximum file size or dimension?

I found my links were copying without the .jpg or .png

If they are missing and the photo won't post then just the appropriate extension at the end.

I've had trouble posting pics from Imgur in the past. Found the way to do it is to right click on the Imgur picture you want to post and chose Properties, then copy the image code that ends in ".jpg". Paste that code into the "attach image" box on here and the pic should come up in your post.

Has imgur change like photobucket?

Some of my photo disappeared in a sale thread. Now when I paste an image link it it doesn't embed the photo. Anyone else having this issue?

All my pics still appear to be there.

When you have the .jpg or .png link (by right clicking on it if using a computer or by long pressing and selecting "open in new tab" on mobile then copying the new window address bar), click the image box on your fret board post, right click and paste (for computer) or long press, paste and hit space (on phone).

This works every time for me.

This has always worked for me in the past. However, tonight I can't make it work. I have to do it all on iPhone generally. I can't get the "open in new tab" stage and it just says "Look Uo" when I post Copy Link into the Fretboard image box. It's the jpg link that's missing I think. Anyone else having problems?
