Inspired by a recent post of mine elsewhere, here is a thread for your musical opinions that you generally keep to yourself because they might be unpopular. No flaming please!

I'll start.

I don't like Jimi Hendrix's music much, and I find his lead style very tiresome to listen to.

I quite like some country music.

I think the Beatles are massively overrated.

The sun does not shine out of Taylor Swift's bottom.

Hendrix was a genius though - at least as a guitarist. Not sure about his songwriting or singing though.

Guns and Roses were shite even when they were a real band. All their songs are overlong and crap. All youse old gits just thought they were good because there hadn't been a proper rock band around for ten years before they pitched up.

I like some music, I don't like other music. I don't try to overthink it or keep any opinions to myself. My favourite bands have produced a lot of terrible songs, and likewise bands I don't really like have produced some belters. Some songs i like the verse but not the chorus or vice versa, it's just music. Very subjective and not to be pigeon holed apart from that you like and that you don't.

Anything Pink Floyd post Syd Barratt its just utterly terrible.

Any (usually former or older) musicians who plug their new album on BBC Breakfast or the one Show, are always awful/ bland AOR and just need to stop.

Michael Jackson was one of the most innovative Musicians of all time.

Taylor Swift's 1989 is the best pop album so far this year.

Coldplay, The Script, Snow Patrol, Kaiser Chiefs, Foo Fighters,etc are all middle of the road boring pop crap.

Guthrie Govan is a terrible song writer.

Paul Gilbert's guitar playing has become more boring since he left Racer X and has now hit rock bottom.

John Mayer and Joe Bonamassa are really, really, really boring. All their songs sound the same.

I have a prediction about what way this thread will go...

The Beatles wrote bucket loads of nonsense and drivel.

Thom Yorke is a terrible singer

Hendrix was a great rhythm guitar player, but a terrible soloist.

I would also add that Led Zepplin found lots of ways to ruin great songs..

Rock n roll isn't what it used to be because if you go and see a band of angry young men playing these days, their parents will be in the audience loving it.

My parents hated the music I played as a teenager, that's the way it should be.

Wow, don't get me started:

Chords, Melody and harmony are overrated, rhythm and groove are where it's at.

The pinch harmonic is one of the greatest innovations in musical history

Musical theory is a pile of bullshit, it's overly complicated due to the notation being tied to limitation of particular interests and is at best a blunt tool for describing aesthetics anyway.

The beatles were shit

Load and reload were 2 of metallicas best albums

Country music and reggae are basically the same.

The accordian sounds alright to me ( unless playing the Birdie song whilst you eat).

Ike Turner was more important than the Beatles.

Interesting mix of approaches in this thread..... some people are offering genuine, heartfelt opinions, some are being ironic, some are just taking the piss. The problem is figuring out which is which.

Led Zeppelin would have been good if they hadn't been fronted by Robert Plant and as for 10cc.............

David Bowie hasn't done anything other than change his hairstyle and trousers since "Heroes".
Queen ripped off The Sweet and Led Zeppelin.

And I really like early Twisted Sister, I think mainly because of the simple riffs, Dee Snider's singing and the fact they recorded everything on Marshalls set at 11.

I really like '70's KISS too.

And I love Country

As for not liking stuff, not a lot apart from modern mid scooped guitar tones.
