In order to stay current and up my narcissistic nature, I think I’ll shoot an apology video next week.

    Thank you for that.

Realistically, Carvin/Kiesel has always been an American guitar shop for American people. How likely is it that they give a flying one about European customers?

I briefly had custody of a Carvin bass guitar. Some things about it were really high quality. Others were somewhat eccentric - kinda like Vigier and LAG. The eccentricities hamper resale values. Hence, the lifetime keeper bunker mentality of the fanbois.
    Be seeing you.

    Wowaweewa!

That Jeff guy is a fucking prick.

Never getting a dime from me and I can't help but have zero respect for anyone buying from his company after seeing how he acts.

    Thats actually a joke.

It has been pretty well known Jeff is a tricky character to deal with for a while now.
If you are an artist with an endorsement you will generally get better service but non-US customers are a bit screwed.
Part and parcel of dealing an American company without local dealers.
Warmoth can be similar IMHO, although they tend to try harder to fix problems.

The Carvin/Keisel fanboys can be brutal too.

Just watching that clip of 'Jeff', I don't theres there's much need for context. If it was heat of the moment, or a pissed Friday night maybe, but uploading that...

I like Carvin, but I haven't tried Kiesel - Necks can be a bit small for me.

I don't know or care who KDH is but 30s of listening to him had me reaching for the off switch. Kiesel guitars aren't my thing at all so I don't really care to learn about the owner.

    Really?
I’m not saying “quick everyone grab your pitchfork’s”  but the act of omission by not declaring an ongoing financial interest could be seen negatively by some. Particularly when other interests have been openly declared(and often).

It doesn’t affect me or change my opinion on anything but it was enough for me to raise an eyebrow.

I assumed some kind of link as they use them a lot and Pete has a signature model but I don’t think they push Victory, or any other brand(s) in particular.

They're in lots of their videos though. They often use them to demo guitars and pedals etc. Never once has he said he is an investor/co owner, even when others have mentioned they are involved in the company. And you can't deny that the visual promotion is pretty apparent as well as the many videos that involve them directly and in directly.

If you've built a reputation of fairness and honestly, doing blindfold tests of guitars and letting cheaper brands win in these tests (even though they're the better sellers, but let's ignore that) and then you're putting these amps in lots of videos and never mentioning that you're an owner... it's just a strange omission.

Your audience have a right to know if you're an owner because it comes across as though they're a neutral party who just likes the amp, when in fact there is a huge vested interest in them. So using your reputation to promote them, and omitting the fact that you're an owner/investor does raise some questions.

I'm not saying they've done anything, and it could be completely innocent, but the questions are valid questions and I think KDH is right here. He also didn't aggressively go in on Lee, he just dug a bit and asked some questions. He says he respects Lee. I don't think he deserves a pile on.

There’s another thread about this video, this thread is old.

This should be for that other thread but -
I don’t think Andertons does come across as a neutral party that just likes the amps - they come across as a shop trying to sell the amps, the exact financial structure behind why isn’t anyone’s business- he’s trying to sell them to you and he makes that clear

I resurrected this thread because I entered KDH into the search. This came up first. I wasn’t aware of the Amp thread. I entered it because I saw the Lee Anderton video on social media. I didn’t know what any of the fuss was about. I’ve seen some of that KDH stuff before and pretty much ignored it, but the more I see the more I think that he’s a moaning pain in the bum.
The guitar game is knocking 70 years old now and is easily replaced with software. We can all moan like buggery and put guitar builders and amp builders out of business and go use pro tools. Then we can moan that the guitar and amp industry is dead.
If pulling up old threads is such a no no, then lock ‘em.

I’m not having a pop, someone pointed out it was a necrobump, telecaster said the video is new, I was trying to point out this is a thread originally about a different vid, and there’s already a thread about the new video

Yes they're trying to sell the amps, but by posting videos about how good they are, and not declaring their involvement in the company this is a conflict of interest and the omission is unethical. If you can't see this, well I've got this snake oil that I am trying to sell you and maybe I do have a stake in the company but the snake oil is amazing. Normally it's £500 but I'll do it for you for £475. ;)

Anyone who thinks that a guitar shop doesn't have a vested interest in selling you the stuff they have in their shop shouldn't be allowed unsupervised access to the internet tbh.

I look forward to his next thrilling expose. "New in at ten: in shocking news, water is wet".
