Right, that's my jam song sorted - thank you!
I'd like to dedicate a solo acoustic song to Sheena, will there be a chance to do that? Planned to do it at Huddersfield..

Not only that but we expect it to be performed at the acoustic open mic slot at the gig...

Prep a couple of acoustic tunes. You might find the buzz too good to just do one. I’m thinking of doing the same. We could even pick one and do a duet and practice it during the day ;)

    Please can we have parklife?
I can do a pretty good Phil Daniels impression and I can just see Ed doing the "Parklife" vocal.
It's a bit chord-changy but not *that* difficult. It could easily have 3 guitars on it.

I reckon this would be a right laugh.

I reckon there’s about one bass note in it too ;)

Er no, it's a little bit not so much just one note on bass either.
    Have a listen.

I'd be well up for that.

Like all Coxon rhythm it is fiddly as heck but I'd be up for playing on it as well.
We have to be so very careful, what we believe in...

OK, As an Initial Song list - how does this sound??

Oasis - Cigarettes and Alcohol (give Champagne supernova a break)

Arctic Monkeys - Mardy Bum (New one!)

Blur - Parklife (That's three Brit Pop style ones!)

Stones - Brown Sugar (In Open G but can be played in Std)

Undertones - Teenage Kicks (because its a simple classic)

Primal Scream - Rocks (Strutty Rock Classic)

Free - Wishing Well (Rock Classic)

Neil Young - Rocking in the Free World (Rock Classic)

Gun - Word Up (Funky Widdle opportunity)

Hendrix - Hey Joe (Simple Chord progression with solo opportunity)

Pink Floyd - Comfortably Numb (Fretboard Staple)

Beatles - While My Guitar Gently Weeps (Soloing opportunity)

Are there any of those above no one would want to do?

Need your input to filter down the following to one from each genre -

An AC/DC track that's singable - Highway to Hell??

A JJ Cale track - which one?

A beginners blues rock - CCR Fortunate Son or Free Alright Now or Rocky Mountain Way?

A Widdly One - Beat it or Purple Rain, Big Bad Moon?

Strutting Rock Classic - Cult - Little Devil or Kravitz - American Woman?

60s one - Waterloo Sunset or a Beatles track or......?

Pop Punk - Green Day - American Idiot, Boulevard of Broken Dreams or Basket Case

Something 80s/90s cheesy pop rock - Give us a classic!

Angsty Foo Fighters - All My Life, Walk, The Pretender?

Anything else someones desperate to play? or an genre I haven't covered? I want to make sure everyone whos signed up has a song they are happy to play on.

    Karma......

Initial set list sounds great. 80s/90s cheesy pop rock I nearly lost my lungs singing along to "Here I go again on my own" driving home this afternoon : ) foo fighters, everlong please! 60s waterloo sunset (I suggested  so I would say it!)  American woman sounds good.  Beginners blues rock how about American Girl if Tom Petty counts as blues rock, love playing that song.

For AC/DC I'd nominate something like "Up to my neck in you" or "Rock and roll damnation" as being much more singable than Highway (and arguably more fun to play without being massively harder in the rhythm department).

Otherwise it looks great, although will involve a lot of YouTube and learning from me, as I don't automatically know many of those (which is a good thing!).

  • I have a real hankering to sing some Cash.

Fulsom Prison Blues is my fave and it's a nice guitar piece and a new style for the jam

I was planning on a solo solitary man... If there was extra time. Cash is great.

But that is as "steady" as it's possible to be - it's Dm all the way through, which doesn't give a lot of interest for the bassist or the rhythm player.

Assuming that Mama Don't was done at Huddersfield (?) we could try
    • Cajun Moon or
    • Crazy Mama (I hear a harp part there for @Bridgehouse) ; or
    • Any Way the Wind Blows or
    • Carry On or
    • Devil in Disguise or
    • ...
Any of those work for you @fandango?
Having trouble posting images here?  This might help.
