  • Got my student loan, so bought some Shure SE215s to replace my 110s I lost (somehow).

They're incredible. Seriously the best £80 you'll spend on listening to music, it's ridicuolous.

It's the right time of year for Cox's apples. They're my favourite variety. Crude comments will be disdained ...

'Til the current contract ends.  After which I'll probably have a decent, lengthy, break.

On a completely different topic, tomorrow should be a very happy day.

I've just had a baby boy (well, my wife has, and it was just over 24 hours ago now). 5lbs 7oz so on the small side but doing well. Going to pick them up from the hospital soon :-)

On a side note, the birth was fast but difficult and the staff at the hospital were absolutely awesome. Decisive, controlled and completely confidence-inspiring. Saved his life. This at a unit (Furness General) that has made the national news in recent years because of systemic failure in their maternity care. From what I've seen they've really turned it around because the care so far has been faultless.

Wahey, Well done you two! Glad to hear that the staff were great about everything, hopefully it stays that way long term too.
Now you just need to stick a guitar pick in his hand, snap a photo and have it as your forum avatar :D

Took the stabilisers off my eldest son's bike today! He's 5 and proceeded to whiz around the park unaided. Very proud Dad moment.

    Yeah it'll be a 22 month gap.

Apparently it's something to do with sexual intercourse, but I think that sounds far fetched.

Just finished my annual appointment at Moorfields Eye Hospital, I have an eye condition that means my vision is going to slowly deteriorate over time (it's a form of Retinitis Pigmentosa) and naturally I absolutely dread these yearly check ups.

However I saw the most wonderful specialist today who told me that the future looks "very good" for me and I should be "extremely optimistic" in regards to future treatment. At the moment that future treatment looks like it is going to be through Gene Therapy, the best part is that I was under the impression that any treatment I receive in the future would just halt the progression of my disease, however there is a lot of talk of completely reversing the faults and 'curing' me.

It gets me down sometimes, but I am honestly on a high right now and feel like I can start looking forwards to my future as apposed to dreading it, I'm not ashamed to say I had to have a little cry out of pure joy.

I just have to be patient and have faith, but I am truly grateful to be born in a time where the simple notion of a 'cure' is a possibility. :)
