these beasts of amps...100w none master volume...how loud before they start to break up ? I'm guessing floor shaking and windows shattering loud ? So....if so does this mean its a clean amp in the real world use it will see and needs pedals to get any dirt ?

This is a JMP 2203, so it has a master volume, no need to crack it up to stupid volumes to get a great tone.

Here's a few samples of what you can get out of it.

  • Si. How much influence are the cabs on your sound? I'd be looking at a stock 1960 wi my budget.

I've not actually gigged this JMP, but when I've had JMPs and JCM800s in the past I've always used a 1936 cab (either with stock speakers or V30s) and it's sounded great. I know the JMP/JCM + 1960 cab is a world wide used combination, and probably 10s of thousands of people using that combination world wide so can't see why it wouldn't be great.

If you want a hard Rock sound then this is the seminal tone, add a boost and you have 80s metal to a T. It's one of the most recorded guitar amps in history for a reason, and these vintage heads are getting harder and harder to get hold of.
