Q1:  Where did you username come from?
It was my nickname when I worked shifts. There were several Johns, I became Juan for no good reason I could see (you don't get to choose these things). I might also be a little geeky...

Q2:  Where in the world/country are you?
    Yorkshire. Home of pie.

Q3:  What's your main musical ambition?
To one day build a pedal so awesome that it brings about either world peace or a zombie apocalypse.

Q4:  Your "best" bit of gear - just the one?
    Soldering iron.

Q5:  Your #1 ever track - again, just the one?
Tough, very tough. I'll go with Black Sabbath - Die Young

Q1:  Where did you username come from? My other big hobby is Hillman Imps - the two 'n' thing is because apparently in some areas of the country an Impman is someone who does unpleasant things to children. I found that out to my horror when I signed up to AOL in the late 90s... and had to take my PC to the police station. NOT fun.Q2:  Where in the world/country are you? UK - Midlands - NorthantsQ3:  What's your main musical ambition? To be musical and original. In a covers band. Its a pipe dream. Q4:  Your "best" bit of gear - just the one? 1972 Fender Telecaster... nuff said.Q5:  Your #1 ever track - again, just the one? Electricity - Captain Beefheart... well it is this evening!

Hello there, I'm Ronnie, I'm 32 and married with a four year old daughter. I work as a lighthouse technician for Trinity House which means i get to travel a bit. it also means i should know something about electronics but the less said of that the better! Been playing guitar since I was 15 and been pretty much obsessed with it since my brother first showed me a the intro to All or Nothing by the Small Faces. Unfortunately that obsession hasn't extended to learning to play the thing properly! I get by ok but I'm sure if I bothered to take some proper lessons I'd improve no end. I'd always been interested in music but it was the likes of Oasis et all in the 90s that made me want to play an instrument. I wanted to play drums but my brother steered me towards guitar at my parents request.

1: I first used it as my eBay ID and ended up using it for everything else since. Can't remember why, probably a male version of long tall Sally or something!

2: Harwich, Essex. It's a bit of a dead end but I have a certain affection for the place.

3: just to keep gigging and enjoying it really.

4: My Gibson Fat Neck 335 in natural. It was a gift from my brother so it's priceless to me. The moment I picked it up I felt like I'd been playing it my whole life.

5: Impossible question! At this moment I'd probably say The Masterplan by Oasis but it'll probably change in ten minutes.

Q1:  My Dad always used to call me a space cadet. Usually after he came home from a parents evening at school!

Q2:  North Notts born and bred but my spiritual home is Scotland. Or Florida.

Q3:  I've been lucky enough to have lived most of my ambitions so far. Toured, had some fame, had endorsements and played to huge crowds around the world. Having not done that for a bunch of years I'd like to do it again.

Q4:  I have to say it's a 2000 USA STD Strat. Pickups have been changed a bunch but other than that it's stock and I keep going back to it. Nicely reliced and worn in.

Q5:  Adagio For Strings. Quite simply the most beautiful piece of music ever written.

I get a bit (a lot!) giddy when I've had sugar and/or caffinne (sp?).

Q2:  Where in the world/country are you?
    Lancashire.

Q3:  What's your main musical ambition?
Kinda done them really. Played in front of 1000s, had songs played regularly on USA "hair metal" radio, been recognised by pretty girls (all of these a while ago). Now, I'd just be happy with not everyone in the pub saying that we were great - as they have a fag and listen from outside.
Q4:  Your "best" bit of gear - just the one?
Ooofff...my SG? My Explorer? My Marshall....errrrmmmm...errmmmm...My SG.

To play? To listen to? I do like playing "Bad Boy Boogie" - but also Hallowed Be Thy Name....erm...erm...Live Wire.

    Hi,

I'm Thanos, I come from Thessaloniki, Greece and came to UK in 2008 for grad school at Durham and then Northumbria Uni.
I currently live in Newcastle where I work as a mech. eng. & research associate for a knowledge transfer project between the Uni and a local industry specializing in heavy duty vehicle thermal management.
I started studying music at an early age and when I came to the UK I got my RGT grades 6-8 el. gtr accreditation.

I've played semi-professionally when I was back home in rock and R&B bands.

I joined MR a while before it went down.

    1. I had a cat and one day a friend of mine "shopped" a pic of a creature whose eyes, forehead and ears were my cat's, and mouth and cheeks were mine; He named the creature "Catthan"
    2.  Newcastle upon Tyne
    3. To reach a level of skill which helps me express myself and play whatever I feel like to and also gig and write music.
    4. My Badger 30 amp and a LP replica for which I have reserved a build slot and will have in a year's time
    5. Changes all the time; lately it has been Guthrie Govan's "Waves", primarily for educational reasons

I understand that the task of building a forum from the ground up is a hard one and want to express my admiration for the guys who took the initiative and challenge of creating this board which I find very refreshing compared to other boards.

I kept contacts of MR members with who I did some trades and seem they haven't found their way here yet so I will try to spread the word. I'm also an active member over at mylespaul and will post about this board there too.

    Brgrds,
    Catthan

Q1:  My name is Stuart. I met another Stuart over a decade ago and we became Friday pint buddies. People were getting confused by us having the same name so I decided I should be SuperiorStu (I am the older one) and he should be InferiorStu. That lasted about a week! He came up with DiscoStu for me (after the Simpsons character) and I came up with JuniorStu for him cos he's younger. Everyone calls us Disco and Junior now and I love it.

Q2:  Born and bred in Elgin, Moray.

Q3:  I'd love to get through a whole song without cocking up. I'd like to conquer stage fright. I'd like to be comfortable writing lyrics so that I could actually get a song finished.

Q4:  I love my Mirrortop electric as it was the first one I built. I'll never let it go. My Stonebridge acoustic is pretty special too as I bought it to mark my recovery from brain surgery.

Q5:  Ah, the song question. It changes with my mood but one I always come back to is 'Paranoid Android' by Radiohead.

Gary, Engineer (no I don't work a Quik-Fit), older than I care to admit.
Played guitar since teens,  bands with friends and so on.  Lost track of playing buddies through moving around the country for work.

Q1:  Where did you username come from?
It's what I get to listen to my guitars through - the joy of babies.

Q2:  Where in the world/country are you?
Brizzle, the land of eternal rain.

Q3:  What's your main musical ambition?
    To stop playing with myself...

Q4:  Your "best" bit of gear - just the one?
    My White/Gold Strat partscaster.

Q5:  Your #1 ever track - again, just the one?
Deep Purple's Lazy, the Made in Japan version - it has a bit of just about everything, with the enigma of how a Major can sound that good.  And I've still not got the riff right after all these years...

    [edit]
ChristophEar has created a Spotify playlist of all the #1 tracks
    Everyone's #1 tracks.

And I just "stickied" this for as long as we've got lots of new rejoiners arriving!

    1. There are too many "Phil"s. When I was a little boy I kind of answered to Pip so I adopted the label a few years back to save confusion with all the other Phils

    2. Silly Suffolk. Although it often feels like the wrong planet. BTW 'Silly' comes from the Anglo-Saxon saelig  which roughly translates as 'blessed'.

    3. Once upon a time it was to have an EllPee out with my name on the cover, my own music & playing in the grooves. These days it seems hard enough just to put a band together (well, damn near impossible tbh) so I'd settle for an electric band with a decent rhythm section, with which I could play music that I find tolerable.

    4. Probably my LP Std. Yes I know my SG2000 is more versatile and has better high fret access but I've had the Lester for 30 years and its an old friend.

    5. Music Inspired by The Snow Goose (Camel). Has many themes within it but plays like 1 track from the start of side A to the end of side B.
"Working" software has only unobserved bugs. (Parroty Error: Pieces of Nine! Pieces of Nine!)
