Yep, seen one, thought they looked shite then, and haven't changed my opinion.

  • I remember in an old guitarist magazine there was a guy with an enormous collection of guitars which were ugly. Most of them were deemed unplayable, too, despite coming from "boutique" guys, including a green metallic manson that he reckons is one of the worst guitars ever.

The point is, he had about 3 of these things.

  • I've seen them when Brian has taken them to shows. The bodies are moulded from fibreglass.

There used to be one in The Rock Shop in Shrewsbury years ago. It's just one of those "waste ten seconds of my life looking at it and move on" guitars.
Little more than a shop sign really.

  • I played one at Brian's when I went to pick up a guitar he'd refretted for me. It plays like a normal Strat except at the top end of the fingerboard. However, it's ungainly when you have it on a strap. It's way more a visual prop than a serious guitar.

The used asking price is obscene - how much did these monstrosities retail at new I wonder...

Guitar Player (long gone Rochdale shop) had one - they were very close to where Brian is based. Never bothered trying it....

  • Blimey, I've never seen one that's why I asked. I'm surprised how many people have seen these.

It may be that we've all seen the same one! Someone buys it, realises the error of their ways and moves it on again....

One of the chaps who was a fairly regular poster on MR had one. His handle may have been JohnnyPlectrum, or maybe I'm misremembering. Anyway, he wondered about selling it a number of times and I have to say I think it'd be a super thing to wheel out for a couple of numbers on a gig!
It's fair to say that I have GAS for it. :D

I've also seen one in the flesh at a guitar show in Leeds in 1996, and being played on German MTV by a guitarist backing up one of the guys from Die Ärzte's solo act.

  • I know some of Brians guitars are tripped out but hes a one off true guitar craftsman shidoshi master , he built a strat for a hendrix guy i know, it was more than awesome. He can build whatever you want from solidbodys to jazzboxes and owt in between ;)

They over-lapped. I first went to Guitar Player in about 1981 - I'm not not sure exactly when it opened. It closed in 1992.

I felt like there'd been a death in the family. It was a great shop.

  •   Looks like something someone left on the dashboard of the car on a hot, sunny Arizona day...

    Yuck.

Double yuck on the asking price...

Looks like the sort of guitar Goofy would play. I want to like it and I think I would admire anyone who actually played it - I think it would suit Chevy Chase or someone - but it's just a bit TOO gross.
