no one who has a friedman is going to let it go for a cornford or jvm your best bet is to get a plexi and mod it yourself

very likely but can you burn me for at least trying? its hardly like either amp is a solid state line 6 or something. and we all know what its like to need money now and then.

I know Friedman amps are great but I'm looking forward to the hysteria dying down.

    Or is that "if"?

i feel the same way actually. ive heard them, sound brilliant at what they do etc... and i really want to try one. However its not like god shat them out, resulting in them being the pinnicle of guitar amps. it always happens though. A particularly brilliant amp comes out and once they circulate through the crowds, they become the holy grail for a while then.

I agree BUT I haven't tried one apart from the pink taco I owned (for a very very short time) I didn't like it! I'm sticking to my trusty EVH 100 III -for the time being anyway!........must resist......the pull.....towards........Guitarguitar!........argh!......

Cornford was the first one I experienced in the 90s when everyone went nuts for them.

Personally, I'd keep the Cornford.  Not sure I like the sound of the Friedmans.

    Perhaps just me.

I bought a used Pink Taco and loved it so much I sold all my AxeFX gear and bought a BE100 a week later.. best move I've done in a long time. I'm sure the hype will die down eventually, but it will still be a great amp no matter what. Like all things, not everyone will love them, some people will hate them, that's just life.

I'm convinced @rockmonster had a bad valve or something as they way he describes it is nothing like my experience.

I should rent mine out on an hourly basis for people to test :)

I saw Bossk play years ago and one of their guitarists used a Cornford MK50II, slaved into another amp head for extra beef. It was some of the phattest shit I've ever heard.

Not tried one but a guitarist for whom I have a lot of respect slated them as being overly-bright, over-hyped and over-priced.... Please don't beat me up.

lol each to their own i suppose. Happy with mine and i dont care what name is on an amp as long as it sounds good and i can get what i want from it, I had stayed away from the boutique amp makers as i never liked any of them and found most to be overrated and used a 5150iii for 4 years after having a few bogners diezels cornfords briefly inbetween and the 5150 was to me a better and more versatile amp.

i wouldnt say they are bright unless you crank the presence then they become bright.

Im hoping to try one as soon as they hit the uk but i think its going to be a couple of months at least yet, From the videos ive seend i dont think the vids have done it justice. Ive always love jerrys sound especially on the last two alice in chains albums and thats all friedman more or less. I would say that the jj is going to be a tighter more agressive amp than the brown eye. They all have their pown identity, Im really digging the small box and been using that more lately for the covers stuff, The be is for my originals band, I wold love to play a naked amp though they are out of prodiction now.

Was that the Billy Hpwerdel sig model?

Yeah I fancied that.  To be honest that JJ demo with Jerry is growing on me but that Pink Taco demo with some dude playing AIC riffs sound sweet as.
One way or another it will be awesome, it's just that bloody cost!

Yes mate thats the kiddie , always love apc as well great band and great guitar sound, Twas a no brainer for me really when all my fave guitarists have switched to friedman , Duffy, Shifflett , Cantrell and Howerdel.

I know they cost a lot but my gas is over for amps and if i worked out what i lost over the last few years on amps that i bought and flipped i probably could have bought three of em with the money i lost on the others!

Amp gas done, Pedal gas done, Guitar gas not quite! want another 335!

how would you compare the cleans on the small box to the brown eye?
the brown eye looks more attractive to me feature wise, but the small box size and price is also very appealing.

The JJ is supposedly the BE circuit with the mids altered and the clean channel has a more Vox AC30 tone stack, but its all based around the BE amp. The difference between the smallbox, BE100, SS and JJ is just essentially a few component changes to tune the amp slightly differently.
