What a shame they sent it out like that. Probably went some way to making your decision for you
Well if your back on the hunt and thinking the Martin may be better look at this

i played on the other day and it was bloody good
Thanks mate. I honestly think I’d enjoy one of those more than this Waterloo. I’d love to learn slide one day too, so something cheep and cheerful would be great if you made a high saddle for it as well. Nice to take away on holiday too!

It’s a nice guitar but nothing like I’d imagined. Hay ho. Live and learn. Joke is, that sigma looks nicer too lol. This one looks like a bit of 70s flat pack furniture. Picture on the website looked much nice than in person.

That Sigma is the one I was telling you my mate has. Though it might struggle against your Lowden and Martin, @Andy79 is right, they are very good for the money.

  • Have you looked at Atkin? I'm not sure if they have anything in the standard range but they're still just about small enough they might be open to a small run if you ask nicely? I'd bet Andertons might be interested in helping

Coda music have a beautiful new 00 Brook Lynn 12-fretter in figured mahogany. it is up on Reverb at £2,650 (with a make offer option) - https://reverb.com/item/27550358-brook-lyn-figured-mahogany
Sorry the Waterloo didn't work out - just reminding you about the all-mahogany Brook Lynn 12 at Coda I mentioned earlier. They might be open to an offer somewhere around the Waterloo price. I saw a different model made from the same batch of figured mahogany when I was down at Brook a few weeks ago and it looked absolutely fantastic with the same beautiful complexity in the grain that you would normally only find in more exotic tonewoods.

  • Thanks guys. There might be a used mahogany lowden coming up, so I want to try that out first. (I know I said I don’t want one of these or the bill, but you know how it goes).  I’m going to steer clear of the Waterloo’s to be honest. If the lowden doesn’t happen or work out, I’ll go look at the Brook. Those Sigmas look like they’re worth trying out as well for more bluesy stuff and travel.

I have a custom Martin 00-15m with gloss finish and 1 3/4" nut. Scale length is 25.4", not 24.9", but I would let it go for a lot less than £2k. Has a k&k pure mini too.
