Rare live player - so rare I've only been heard on stage the once*
Shocking Blue - Venus - album version - rhythm (or poss lead) - great with female vocals (and yes Bananarama did a cover version)
Johnny Cash - Ring of Fire - album version - rhythm
Jimi Hendrix - Hey Joe - album version - rhythm (poss lead)
*at time of writing
Used to be regular gigger, not played live since 2015. Now I'm out of practice.
Beastie boys - Fight for your right (album version) Geetar
Gnr - Paradise City (album version) Bass
Deadeye Dick - New age girl (dumb and dumber soundtrack) Guitar.
The past two years i've barely picked up a guitar. I used to gig every week and have practice every other day and (as I'm sure you know) you tend to reach a different level. That's where I want to get back to
@RichardHomer and I had both suggested JJ Cale tracks - but different ones. Trying to make your job a bit easier we've swapped those to a single suggestion (Clapton version of a JJ Cale song that the man himself never recorded).

Not really given song choices much thought, but may as well stick with my original choices:
Soulshine - Allman Brothers
Remedy - Black Crowes
Play That Funky Music - Wild Cherry

@CustomPedalBoards bass line on Live Wire seems familiar! [:A A A A:]∞
Can I +1 the first 3 on the playlist - loving those

Pink Floyd - Time - Album Version. Lead guitar.
Lynard Skynard - Freebird - Album Version. Slide and Lead Guitar.
**Iron Maiden - Iron Maiden - live version (Rock in Rio). Lead / Rythm guitar.
**This needs someone as mental as me to play as a two-guitar part throughout and there's still room for a rhythm only guitar.
Maiden use 3 guitars so it's entirely possible and not that difficult but it needs some real prep to make it work.**
(Need to skip forward to the 29min mark)
More about that later.
I'll be brutally honest this is a big challenge for me but I think it's important that anyone who thinks their own song choices are challenge for them, see me face something I find challenging.
It's good to take yourself out of your comfort zone and that surely is what this all about.
I'm actually really looking forward to it.
So is my new Explorer!
Have to see what Mr Benelovent Dictator thinks to it all!
Seriously, we're trying to avoid getting into lots of discussions about the songs on this thread. This is for the suggestions, and perhaps the odd "+1" type comment. Trying to put together a balanced songlist that works for most/all people there is difficult enough.
As others have said, there are some great suggestions here, and having listened to the Spotify playlist, there's not much that I wouldn't want to play on. If everyone then agrees that all the suggestions are great and we should play them all, and I'll take this role on that and you'll take that role on this, we end up with a songlist of 30-40 songs all voted for by the audience.
But impossible to actually do on the day.
