Sasquatch Jam (Feb 16/17th 2019) Songlist Thread

Thread to discuss the songlist for the Hudders Jam in Feb.

I recommend we go for a list of 20 (same as last time)

I would say we should have 5 stalwarts and then 15 new and exciting tunes!

I'd quite like to do "I won't back down" (Tom Petty) and take a run at vocal/rhythm for real, rather than just in the front room.  If I can find my slide, maybe the lead, maybe not ...

    Well for me...

Champagne Supernova (or other Oasis choon)
    Paranoid
    Ace of Spades
    Zombie?
We have to be so very careful, what we believe in...

  • @Bridgehouse you mentioned you started a thread about future jean in the guitar section but I couldn't see it..?

So next Huddersfield jam is in Feb.. I'll look out for others before then, too. Is there a list of these jams anywhere?

Btw I don't know what the "sasquatch" thing is with the jams?

    I'd like
Fight for your right - Beastie Boys
Living after midnight - Judas Priest
Rocking in the free world - Neil Young

A nice thrashy number wouldn't go amiss too.. just to keep the balance.. maybe something like Antisocial - Anthrax or the like. Maybe something to give @bloodandtears a bit of a workout.. ;)

No reason not to... not a particularly difficult song, perhaps a little on the long side..  Even if it doesn't make the list, still learn it and just jam it there. Rockin in the free worlds wasn't on the list, but we learnt it, jammed it, and there was time on Sunday for a recording sesh :)

    Oooh, just remembered,

Assuming the dates work out, I would really like to do "I Hate My Life" (Theory of a Deadman) at the gig, as a band song (play and sing).

Lyrically it's pretty much the antithesis of everything I hold dear, but it has a lot going for it:

    - dead simple (D, A, G) so great for the less confident
    - clean introduction to dynamics for those that haven't played in a group before (it builds and layers a bit)
    - it's ideal for a bit of crowd engagement with some preamble and usually a spontaneous join-in towards the end (assuming everyone is a potty-mouth)
    - it's so wrong it's right

    Ruby - Kaiser Chiefs
Kick Out The Jams - MC5
    Cinnamon Girl - Neil Young

How about "the chain" as part of acoustic set? I used to do it all switching guitars but happy to let somebody rip the solo at the end. Killer bass.

Keep the suggestions coming, I'm collating all of them.

Bit inspired by @mrkb in the Quad thread, so we will look at genre as well, so if you are desperate to see a genre included so you can play on it, whack your suggestions in - this is six months away so we have a luxury of talking about it for a long time!
We have to be so very careful, what we believe in...

I'll whack a few in to stir the pot...

White Stripes - Fell In Love With A Girl (straightforward and loud)
The Hives - Hate to Say I Told You So (as above)
Chris Cornell - You Know My Name (yes, id love to sing it, remember the great man :( )
We have to be so very careful, what we believe in...
