I sanded off all the layers of paint on mine and out of curiosity, polished it up on my buffing thingy - I might still sand it back and paint, but for now it's just going to be a shiny enclosure.

This is because I still haven't got round to building the rest of it, if I spend another few weeks doing the enclosure I'll never get it built

I'll post a pic when it's done.

I built another Fuzz Factory variant. This one has an extra knob, "sub", which is a 50k log pot in series with a 3.3uF capacitor and these are in parallel with C2 in the schematic I posted earlier.

It's a Ross compressor. I love how this one turned out. The ET is so shiny you can see the knobs reflected in the top.

Hopefully my next pour will be less stressful and I may learn to love ET.

Just did my first ET pour, based on the helpful advice here its gone well!

After say 24 hours, could I clean out the pot holes with a sharp blade instead of waiting for full cure and drilling?

I’ve seen some posts on Madbean from guys who do that but I haven’t strayed very far from Juan and Cleggys guide. I’m happy enough to do them in batches and leave them for a few days.

I will say say you do have to be really careful though I have gotten finger print marks on mine after 24 hours which never came out.

As @Adam_MD says. 24 hours is not enough. I've made small impressions in the ET as it is still malleable at this stage. A bare minimum is 48 hours, but preferably 4 days. Personally, I would drill the holes with a stepper drill (however, I do the 3mm LED hole manually with increasing sized drill bits - 2mm, 2.5mm then 3mm swizzling the drill bit in my fingers).

....and can sound like a bucket of badgers. I like getting it to self-oscillate, messing around with the pitch and running it through my DD500 delay using an exp pedal to ramp up delay feedback and make crazy noises

Is there a particular reason you use a stepper rather than just straight drill bits? Just convenience? I found that I had to be really careful not to go too far as each step on my bit wasn't particularly wide. Ended up slightly countersinking a couple of holes by accident. It hasn't made a difference but I found it safer to use straight up drill bits in the end.

Also, why the manual drilling of the led hole? Just in case you miss?

Stepper drill bit because drilling a 12mm hole would require changing the bit very couple of mm.

Sometimes I wrap masking tape on the step above the one I need, so I don't drill too far.

The 3mm LED hole I do manually because I hold the drill by hand and I would definitely miss the mark. It only takes a few minutes to swizzle it out by hand.

Ah, maybe that's why my holes have been a little rough in places. I have been doing a 3mm pilot and then whatever the full size is. I thought maybe my bits were a bit blunt

I should be ok getting my holes dead centre though - my drill has a laser!

I'm on my second ET this week. First went ok with some small dips. Second went even better, used the stick to spread the edges more carefully and looked hard for gaps.

Here's no1 after 48 hrs, drilled out the holes but waiting another day before re-assembly.

I sometimes drill out the holes after 48 hours. The edges of the holes will not be seen, anyway.

Thanks, yep this was done with Posca pens, As they cover fairly well (light colours less so) it's easy enough to do a light pencil sketch and then go over with the pens.

Got it in one (unsurprisingly!). Will be doing the (now) usual sticky paper and ET method but I think this would look ace etched. One to try in the future I think. It's got a lot of detail, so not sure how well it will work, but this on a brushed metal enclosure with the etched voids in black would be great.
