Similar tales here... I’m starting to think they are deliberately missing collections to route more and more of their packages through the pickup shop services?

Lots going on... finally getting my business sorted, bit by bit.
Many exciting new jobs in recently and will try to do a longer post soon, just hard to find the time.

I'm posting pretty frequently on instagram now if you want to see some pretty pictures:

    https://instagram.com/rexterguitars/

and if anyone feels like liking my facebook page, that would be most appreciated

    https://facebook.com/rexterguitars

In the meantime I have some beautiful bodies for sale - 2 50s sunburst strat bodies and Firemist Gold tele body.

£275 each shipped in the UK to fretboard members for the next 3 days

More info on the strat bodies on my website which is still very haphazard while I find time to sort it.

They are both 2 piece alder and 1.7 and 1.8KG I think - will get exact weights. Tele is 2 piece alder and 2kg.

Well instagram shouldn't get all the pretty pictures so I'll leave a few here if anyone's interested.

Candy Apple Red - got the colour coats on yesterday, will have 3-4 clearcoats before hanging to cure

    General stuff that's going on:

    Wait, WTF is this... not a Jazzmaster?? Something by @GSPBASSES ;I've done for @TTony ;

New paintroom is practically palatial compared to my old setup.

Sooo... yeah, things good in the new place, social media going well and I'm catching up on my jobs. Really positive feedback coming in which is the best thing and exciting new jobs keep cropping up.

    All good.

Away a while and a fairly manic week catching up.

Big shipment of bodies coming in soon so there will be lots more for sale and have a couple of complete guitars in the works.

I've also been planing and jointing some really nice poplar boards to make some vintage correct Mustang bodies (no one is making these in the UK) but I really don't know when I'll find time to actually start building them, the whole finishing thing is just so time consuming!

Weather has been great this autumn but it's starting to get to the time of year when humidity becomes an issue when painting. I think I'll be spending some time over the next few weeks devising a way to build a DIY air handling unit (or something far more low-tech!) ensuring that the air being pulled into my paint room is already dehumidified and warm.

I'm lucky to have a corridor room between one of my main workshop areas and the paint room where I keep my turbines, so if this is completely sealed and the air kept dry in here I'm thinking this is perhaps the best way. It's fine having dehumidifiers and heaters running in the booth, which I do, but once the powerful extractor is running it sucks in external air from all over the place. That will all be fun I'm sure.

The 1966 Jag got buffed the other day and is ready to fly back home to Germany:

Another aged Firemist Silver JM in the works:

Swamp ash tele body stained yellow pre sunburst

    Nice burst taking shape:

and just a reminder - I'm posting on instagram daily - @rexterguitars so please take a look if you're interested. It's not that I favour it over the forum,  but it's just so quick and easy to do it can dovetail in with a busy schedule really well. Cheers!

and just remembered another one i posted on there earlier this week - finished up a gorgeous sherwood green HSS hardtail strat body for @TwoSpellWizard from here - deep, flakey, super-flat mirror finish.

and something a bit different to my usual OTT metallic obsession - a satin green stain, black grainfiller swamp ash tele for @MtB is nearing completion

Anybody like Burgundy Mist? Looks so right on a JM body shape I think.

A down and dirty CBS era style burst on a swamp ash body after a couple of heavy clear coats. Will get a couple more before curing and ageing. Will be for sale in due time.

Yeah it wouldn't be my choice. This body and neck is off Monaco today anyway, where I'm betting good money it's going to get a pure vintage eggshell pickguard.

I like tort and I like gold anodised guards (a lot) but TBH i don't think anything looks better with most of the custom colour metallics than 3 ply white or off white with a wide bevel. Boring? Maybe, but just looks right to me.

There's a craze to put tort on everything now it seems, remember when that first kicked off on the offsetguitars.com forum (cue contemplative music as he enters a reverie) but I just don't think it works in a lot of cases, especially if it's low quality modern stuff.

The old tort had so much variation in tone and colour, an almost 3d quality sometimes with lots of light orange and white flecks on the best examples. Modern stuff doesn't do it for me most of the time. Spitfire is great of course, but even as a total snob I've never been able to justify that much £££ on a pickguard. I've picked up vintage guards for the same kind of money.

Hey! Drop me an email or a pm if you have a minute, depends on what state the body is in when it comes to me, but generally c. £250 for a high gloss metallic. Lovely colour btw!

Bit of a silly week, didn't get through as much as I hoped, but anyway, a little refresh of the thread:

Lentz strat body refinished in Firemist Silver. Very nice indeed if I say so myself...

Random jumble, the aged Inca Silver JM body in the back sold very quickly to a forum member via facebook last night

Let's give it it's own picture... breaking my no tort with custom colour rule here, but I think it does work with paler metallics like this!

Hoping next week these two beauties will be fully assembled. Been waiting for strings to turn up!  :p

And finally - have a handmade BMM tele body - alder 2 piece, quite heavy though compared to my usual ones which are normally <2kg. This one is probably about 2.4. Needs a little more cut and buff on Monday but if anybody here wants it ober the weekend I can do a good price - say £200 shipped?

Been trying to find snippets of time to do a bit of work on my website. Still an SEO graveyard, but am slowly getting the products up to date.

I'm doing free shipping to the UK for the whole of December - code = FREESHIPUK

I also have some reductions on ready finished bodies - including two beautiful aged Jazzmaster style bodies (pictured below).

There are also custom order pages for vintage Strat style bodies where you can select you finish and am getting these sorted for other models soon.

Bit of a mini thread reload, mad busy before Christmas. Long, long days until next weekend but looking forward to finishing a lot of jobs and a few big workshop improvements in the new year. Already got some great jobs lined up  =)

The two Jazzmaster bodies above have now sold, but still plenty of deals left on the website and custom orders always available.

Heading back to a member this week: a pretty slick CAR JM

Shipped this LPB Jm custom build out yesterday: in the top right corner you can see my ridiculous exhaust pipe. How exciting. Nearly died fixing that to the wall on my own  :#

And I have this aged Charcoal Frost 50s style strat body in the works. Clearcoats just finished so it's hung up for curing now.

If anybody would like to reserve this then drop me a message, it will be ready for final cut and buff in about 3-4 weeks. Itcan be aged or nos factory finish - whatever you want. It's gorgeous. Dark, deep forest green notes over the charcoal base. Not metallic grey!

    Thanks Richard, hope you’re well.
Yeah I have a lovely subtle mint green guard that it pairs nicely with. I worry tort would make it look like a Christmas tree, but maybe that’s apt?
i suppose if I was going to be fussy about the correct era pickguard for the colour it would have to be white!

Got a lot of buffing to do in the coming week to get orders out to people in time for Xmas... arm is already suffering!

Here's a couple I finished yesterday. Another aged Firemist Silver and a Copper Glow jag. The metallics just come out so nicely I feel like painting them all the time.

Ordered a new flake gun yesterday and drew up some plans for the flake booth too. It will be a downdraft bench spraybooth with a two axis lazy susan in it for swivelling the bodies around easily. I'm hoping a really powerful fan in a smallish 1.4 x 1.2 m cabinet will keep the demon flake contained. And it's out of my main paint room too to avoid contamination.

    Really nice work!
    Thanks very much!

Long day buffing today. Sudden and unexpected rush of sales means a very busy week coming up before Christmas. WIll be shipping out somewhere in the region of 10 bodies this week I think. Really pleased, just wish I enjoyed packaging more!

This is for Marc, who I think may be a member here... I routed the body for a Nashville configuration, fixed some very suspect ferrule holes on the back and gave it a high gloss Daphne Blue finish. Also sorted a neck for him, removing a snapped tuner screw (those damn things) and plugging it before redrilling. I'll probably give the body a final buff tomorrow before shipping out the whole package.

Cheers @CasperCaster very kind of you! Sometimes I worry not everyone is as obsessed with the metallics as me! It's a shame it was so dark when I finished it on Friday night as it looks incredible in the sunlight. Might get to snap a few pics today. It sold in an hour or two on Saturday and is off to Sweden.

I've got a couple of tele bodies that aren't reserved and have a strong desire to paint one up in this colour and pair it with a black guard.

Here's a few more pics. The first one, I decide to balance in the most perilous place I could find. Wow, wasn't thinking clearly then! It's all safely stashed for shipping now though  =)
