Northern Jam Songlist Discussion

Starting with @bigjon s list as a base, we'd like to narrow it down to a list of maybe 20ish songs. Please have a look and give us an idea of what you'd like to have a go at, whether you want rhythm or lead etc...

Once we've narrowed it down we'll have a go at putting a spreadsheet together and will be asking for vocal volunteers. .

Obviously if there's something else you want to have a go at that's not on here, mention it and I'm sure @Bridgehouse will look into it. (He already has one of mine that he's aware of and is stoically ignoring the hell out of me

Nah, you're not really... I only mentioned it the once. No surface, all feeling - manics. I'm pretty sure it'll be on the list and has a nice easy rhythm part.

I don't remember that at all! However, I see no reason why it shouldn't go on the list..!

Stick me down for "White Room". As I'll be amongst friends (!) I'm happy to take the vocals and I'll play rhythm during the vocals and then take the outro solo. If someone else wants to do the lead fills and do the rocking wah bits that would be nice.

I'm pretty comfortable with most of the others on that list so I'm more than happy to take any rhythm or lead parts on others depending on what other people want to do.

Off my own list I'll nominate Another Brick, Changing Man and a slow burner: the one I'd really love to do is Halo, it's dead easy and you'd be surprised how good it is done as a rock song. If I can't persuade you to get Halo on the list then I'll nominate Purple Rain.

I'm happy to chime in with the lead fills on "White Room" for you.

It's pretty hard to choose from that list, there's loads of corkers on there! What's the actual crack with the format of the day - are we each 'allowed' to play lead on one chosen song, and then we all just pitch in wherever needed to support the others?

If I were to pick a song not on the list, I'd be tempted to go with something like Pearl Jam 'Alive'. Happy just to pick something off the list though if that makes things easier for coordinating things.

Also, I'm generally happy to help out with rhythm guitar on anything else anyone wants me to do, as long as it's not full on metal stuff as that's not really my bag! Happy to have a stab at bass as well as long as there's one to borrow.

and probably a couple of others, but happy to join in with whatever goes, only quickly browsed.

my suggestions for some ones away from that list -

UFO - Doctor Doctor
Judas Priest - Living After Midnight
Darkness - Thing called love
Roy Orbison - Drove all night

,maybe some Rory Gallagher if anyone fancies..

Happy to do some lead (mind you i'm a years rusty

) rhythm - also happy to pitch in on bass & drums if needed.

I believe @Sasquatch_Bob is a rather tasty bassinator, and once he's got the recording stuff set up with a couple of trained monkeys he'd love to do a couple of songs if that's alright with you?

Would like to suggest ‘Come Together’ (steady chaps) as one of the very few tunes as I have just about mastered some partial competence - can handle the vocal too. Other than that and in the interest of self improvement, please select and delegate me a tune or two to learn and I’ll give them a shot. More bass player jokes please.

It's not self obsession,, Power Poses are an important part of a guitarists repertoire. It's our job to make the band look good

Besides.. Bassists have it easy these days.. When i played as a bassist many moons ago i wasn't allowed to even show my face!
