I should really do a bit of an update on our S type builds

Obviously the Gilmour Pulse inspired guitar got completed

EMG SAV pickups with the DG20 Gilmour EMG/SPC circuit

    Luminlay side markers

Many guitars have a re-sale value. Some you'll never want to sell.
Stockist of: Earvana & Graphtech nuts, Faber Tonepros & Gotoh hardware, Fatcat bridges. Highwood Saddles.

Pickups from BKP, Oil City & Monty's pickups.

Now we have a few S Types in a state of build

The two guitars with Roasted maple necks are coming along and are actually about to go off to be painted
Apologies I forgot to get built up pics before disassembling and sanding, but here is a workbench pic

We did another alder bodied one with a 3 piece neck with a leanback headstock
Quite pretty neck wood on this one
Think we have BKP Mothers Milk in this one and a narrow spaced Gotoh 510 series trem with steel block

Here is a build that is for a customer - our take on the Clapton strat utilising a circuit from Denis Cornell and a set of BKP Slow hand pickups. Tuners are Graphtech Ratio and the tremolo is a Fatcat Hardware Double Whammy tremolo with the narrow spacing and Highwood saddles

And in case we forgot to make something left handed we went for a pair of late 60s inspired strats that we called the Woodstock model
With BKP Mother's Milk pickups, Fender tuners , and traditional heel and a Fatcat Components Double Whammy Bridge with Highwood saddles. The mirror image logo was intentional - I remember seeing it on a lefty strat before and thinking it was a cool touch, also we did the same for our art and graphics guy's guitars (he is also a Southpaw)

Thinking Olympic White for this one

And maybe a 3 tone sunburst for this one

I especially love these HSS ones you did. Tbh I wouldn’t ruin them with paint, I would prefer to see the woodgrain.

In the meantime we have completed a project for a customer who wanted us to do our take on the Eric Clapton strat
We used fairly traditional specs in timber choices : alder body and maple neck
Neck had a 9.5" radius and Dunlop 6155 frets. Inlays were black Tahiti pearl
Ratio tuners, Earvana Nut , BKP Slowhand Pickups , Cornell circuit with Mid boost , and a FatCat Hardware Double Whammy bridge with narrower spacing and Highwood Saddles

@FelineGuitars might I ask why some of your s shapes have a “neck plate” and some just have 4 individual bolts ?

We tend to make the all access by choice.

The Yellow strat was a Warmoth body we got from someone that we turned into a project, and the two left handed necks were for a big project that had vintage specs for a Hendrix tribute that didn't materialise so we decided to make a couple of vintage spec s-types in that flavour anyway.

Today's throwback is the Feline Rastacaster
Swamp ash body and a maple /rosewood neck with Dunlop 6100 frets
Gotoh Wilkinson tremolo and Sperzel tuners
A fab stain and paint job by the sadly deceased Mick Dearing
A fairly standard non pickguard H/S/S layout with a couple of twists
Pickups were Seymour Duncan TB59 and SSL1 vintage strat pickups
The 3 switches were all 3 position with off in the central position
The Humbucker was full series in one position and split in the other
The single coils are able to be in phase or out of phase depending on which way you throw the switch
The tone control was different as it had a tone coil choke in the circuit giving an almost wah like filtering  and a push/pull on the tone control let you have that choke either in series or parallel with the tone capacitor

So a wide range of tones could be had from stock sound to mid focussed to scooped and even scratchy sounds like through a small transistor radio.

    Wow, great look!

How do you get such precise lines in those colour changes ?  Is it just masking tape, or is there some other magic involved.   I’d imagine if it was anything like my attempts at painting things with masking tape, loads of paint / stain would seep under !

That was down to the paint finisher we used at the time : Mick Dering of Classic Finishes, who sadly passed away
I imagine he did a clear basecoat of polyester, and then some very careful masking  and spraying stain
But as you say - no bleed lines at all ....simply superb!

Apologies for veering off topic, but John Gatto of the Good Rats used to play a cat-shaped "John the Cat" guitar.  In fact he had several of them.

And this chap was pictured with one as well:

Have done a couple and there may be a couple more in the pipeline for the next year

and yes the logos are deliberately reversed out on the next two - customer is a graphic designer and wanted it that way, and designed how it should be

and he had a strat too....
