Based on CS 56/10, isn’t it? My favourite Fender profile. Give it time!

Haven't tried the EOB, but if it's about the same as the 10/56 V then I think I'd like it.  I don't find the 10/56 V all that big, I've also got a 54 U and a couple of Nocasters.

Anyone know the actual depth of the EOB neck? 10/56 is the shape but sizes vary on CS models. I have a Tele that’s .940 at the first fret and a Strat that’s .880 but both are 10/56V.

My hands feel like they have been on a Marathon - I much prefer the neck on my Manson Evo but I'm stickining with it for now  . . . Genuinely though, I'd trade it in a flash ! ! . . . Time will tell . . . .

I don’t like V necks… apparently I’m crazy, according to an old mate.
I had an EOB, but didn’t keep it - it didn’t do enough of the ‘Strat’ thing for me. Especially the neck pickup sound.

The EIB neck is pretty much the same as the EJ Strat, model, I have big hands and even I find it uncomfortable

Sustainers don't sound like normal neck pickups. I've had multiple and they all seem to sound closer to telecaster neck pickups when in use.

Suppose being what it is, the EOB is aimed at a specific style of playing with the sustainer Vs playing it as a traditional strat.

I’ve had a few CS guitars with 10/56 necks and they’ve all been a very similar size and shape, almost indistinguishable in fact. 0.880” is the normal depth at the first fret for a 10/56. Sounds like your Tele neck could be misdescribed maybe? It’s rare but not unknown for floor travellers to have the odd mistake in a guitar’s spec. Or maybe the neck sander person went home early that day before finishing up!  :)

Nah, it is indeed a bigger neck - side by side with the Strat it’s obvious. iIt’s also a Limited Edition run as opposed to a one-off so they made a lot of them and thus I suspect there wouldn’t be any errors on the spec sheet since it’s one of like 100 or whatever.

As an example of where this happens elsewhere, there are now like three different depths possible with a Mid 60s Oval C… (.790, .825 and .840). I think Fender has a “standard” with all of them but is generally willing to do whatever the dealer orders - retain the overall shape but make it deeper or thinner as required.

Just back from Band Practice and I took the EOB Strat . . It seemed only right to put it to a real test . . . It was hard work at first, I wont lie, but it did get easier  . . . The last couple of Songs we did, were a breeze but my left hand definitely had to put in a full shift. I do see what people say though, given time, you can definitely can get used to it . . .

I do take on board that the Sustainer doesnt sound at all like a Strat Pickup but I dont think it sounds bad either . . .  more Tele than Strat . . .  It took a while for me to get typical Strat tones but then again, its not a typical Strat . . it is without doubt a great guitar, absolutely no question . . . Super well put together, and as good a fit and finish as the USA Strats I've played . . . . I fitted my mini Trem Arm as the original owner had lost the trem it came with and a new battery and whoosh ! ! very enjoyable  . .

Do I wish I'd have gone for a US Strat with a Maple Neck ?? or a Roadworn Vintera ??  Well, probably yes but I'm not giving up yet :-)     However feel free to get in touch if anyone fancies a TRADE :-)

Small hands make your neck look bigger than it actually is ;-)

You can get used to it. You may need to change your hand position to make your hand comfortable. It sounds like zen woo woo but the neck isn't uncomfortable, your hand is. You can make your hand comfortable

One thing that made adjusting between different necks easier for me was learning the bass. It's like running with weights on

It’s funny isn’t it, if you look at the dimensions of a skinny neck at say 20-21mm deep at the nut vs a “fat” neck at say 24mm it’s “only” 3mm you wouldn’t think it would feel that different but in the hand it’s so obvious

I wish Fender made many more non-Custom-Shop guitars with this type of neck profile.  It annoys me that 95% of their guitars (in fact, all production guitars, not just Fender) are some kind of slim-to-medium C profile.  I  seriously considered buying an EOB just for the neck, but the guitar has other features I'm not so keen on.

Yeah, but in percentage terms it's about 15% fatter.  That's pretty noticeable.

One day I'm going to measure all my guitar necks (what an exciting life I lead...).  I've got several with supposedly identical neck profiles but I can feel the differences, I'm sure the measurements would prove me right.

You need to try them in person though - not only is there sample variation, but as I sort of mentioned above a particular shape doesn’t necessarily have the same dimensions. A more affordable example is the Ben Gibbard Mustang - Modern C on the spec sheet but it’s much deeper. .870 or something, maybe more at the 1st fret. That plus sample variation - hard to write stuff off until you play it.

Agreed, but that's potentially an awful lot of shopping around.  I had several Fenders with Modern C necks years ago, and you're absolutely right, they were not exactly the same, they all felt different.  But ultimately, they were all too skinny.  I'm never going to find an Ibanez - for example - with a neck that suits me.

@Philly_Q exactly, 1-2mm can be 10-20%. Hands are also extremely sensitive
