I'm sure this has been done before but... Anyone have a cheat way of doing the intro? Looks like I'll be covering it and it's a fiddly fucker to play cleanly! In standard tuning so half a step up from the original. I can't find any combination of the same notes that's less fiddly than the "proper" way.

I'm considering buying a cheap capo to stick at the 12th fret just so I can play the open chords version of the intro up an octave and not have to stress about it during the gig :)

  • I don't know but it has been well covered on here ( I think in brief it's just not that easy). Anyway, here is our own @Danny1969 with his lesson.
I’ll handle this Violet, you take your three hour break.

There’s a much easier way to do it capo’d on the fourth fret that sounds very close to the original. It puts you in the right key without detuning and involves no wrist-strain. I’ll see if I can find the YT video…

The picking pattern in the above is almost as tricky as the original positioning - I've almost got it down at the 148bpm of the track.
The pre-chorus and chorus sections feel very comfortable to play.
And I thought Radiohead's Street Spirit was a bas*tard to play...
Just like a headless horse without a horse.

It was more the awkward fingering I was struggling with, with a bit of hybrid picking that capo version is much easier!

  • Just drop the top E half a step and all will be good. Obviously you will need a fixed bridge to do this in the fly which I did when my band played years ago.
