Thought I'd share, I think it looks great and a very fair price.

  • 69 Martin yes, 69 Gibson no (after they'd started with the heavier bracing)

I disagree, my main acoustic is a 69 epiphone frontier which has the heavier bracing and it sounds beautiful. It sounded better than my early 50's J-50 so I sold that guitar. Each guitar on its own merits I guess. This one could be excellent. The tuners have been changed but luckily 'like for like' klusons.

Aren't Martins from that era supposed to also be poor because of the chunky maple bridgeplate they started fitting?

Certainly the only Martin I've encountered from 69 sounds pretty crap, but admittedly that was a guitarist, not a guitar. Me. ;)

Slightly worrying that it's got lots of nicks "as it's been played for 60 years". Presumably the guys in Gibson played on it for 13 years before building it.
