Taylor T5 versus Godin Multiac Steel String

I'm after a decent amplified acoustic sound... not bothered about the electric tones that a T5 can produce.

Any comments on the relative merits of these two options?

I would say the Godin has the more authentic "acoustic" tone, but it's very much an "electro-acoustic" sort of sound, whereas the Taylor is a more "electric guitar simulating an acoustic guitar" sort of sound.

All the ones I've played of both types have very wide, thin/flat necks too, so make sure you like those before you start thinking about either of them. (I hate them.)

Is it just the neck profiles that you hate... or are there other aspects that you don't like?

I didn't like the overall feel of the Taylor in particular, the body is also very wide and thin. The Godin isn't so bad. (To be accurate I've only tried the A6 and the Acousticaster, not the Multiac - but as far as I know it's basically the same as the A6.)

To be honest I also wasn't very impressed with the sounds of either of them - I found them both quite artificial. I've heard other people get good sounds, so it may just be me...

The best-sounding 'solid acoustic' I've found so far is the old Fender HMT Tele. I didn't even like the neck on that though, also wide and thin, and with very big frets. With hindsight I should have kept it and changed the neck.
