The kick is absolutely thunderous.
My Gretsch has a 24x16" which I thought was pretty big but the DW is hugely, monstrously bigger and better, despite having the same heads.
I am still getting to grips with the tuning of it- new heads going on tomorrow.

"Don't worry love, it's probably some more of those acoustic guitars that he's so fond of."
Looks the biz, but the combination of terraced housing and my timing means that I'd be on the receiving end of an injunction in no time. Even if I could persuade Ms Goldtop that it was a good idea.
I have new heads on the kit- it sounds killer.
I've put clear Emperors on the toms, a Powerstroke 3 on the bass drum and a CS reverse dot on the snare batter and a Hazy Ambassador on the resonant.
I don't know how DW do it, but everything sounds one size bigger than you would expect.
The 16" floor tom sounds like an 18, the 22" bass drum sounds like a 24 (at least).
Well chuffed.
