So how do you get a festival gig? The last time I played one was 1993
I have it on good authority if you badger the booking person enough they'll give you a gig just to get you to shut up.

Otherwise you have to be "trendy" which has always been a mystery to me.

For anyone in the North East we're playing Corbridge Festival this weekend.  2pm in the afternoon so I'll have just woken up after a heavy evening with Craig Charles the night before...

  • Just got through Green Gathering, One Tribe, and Boomtown Fair.

This weekend we have a local festie in North Wales on Saturday, followed by Beautiful Days in Devon on Sunday.

It's a very tiring time with all the driving/camping/kit lugging, but I am delighted to be playing these events!

Miss Monkey, Step-monkey and I are going to Beautiful Days! Typically, my band has a gig on Saturday so I'll have to leave halfway through.

My band - Crimson on Silver  For sale - Blackstar HT-5S

Gear - Guitars, amps, effects and shizz. Edited for Phil_aka_Pip, who is allergic to big long lists.

  • @Monkeybone it was arranged on Sunday at the last minute, while I was at Boomtown and trying to get mobile signal!

We are playing Sunday at the Bimble Inn stage. It's the first festival I have played that I have actually previously paid to attend!

I'm playing guitar for the upcoming Jesse Ray at Weyfest this weekend, then next weekend my Kate Bush tribute is playing Victorious Festival in Portsmouth.

3 weeks ago I played in 5 different bands at Sundown festival and also done 4 beer festivals in July \ August so this summer has been superb in terms of gigs \ money

Another thread resurrection! I'm back at Home Farm Festival in Chilthorne Domer this coming weekend, but this time playing solo. Also, my new band, Autumn Red, are playing at The Godney Gathering near Wells, for our debut gig. Anyone else playing festivals this year?

3 or 4 this summer, with the highlight being the one on a Croatian island Hvar. Staying in a camp for 4 days, one day for eating shrooms, two days for smoking pot, one day for the gig.

Not this year sadly. Not since the pandemic. Had a good run of it in the years prior

My band FALL3N HALO are playing the St Annes Music Festival in August, Sunday is prog day and whilst we are primarily a classic rock covers band we are performing a smaller rock set followed by 30 minutes of Rush covers branded as our new project titled RUSH3TTE. If we can stretch this to an hour in the future it may open the door to more similar events.

I'm booked to play Ipswich music day This year. Backing band for a girl country singer.
Thinking of going ampless via a joyo American to save hassle and setup time but drummist will still have his kit so maybe not worth the pain.

^ I just played Red Rooster backing a singer in a similar thing. Took my FX and threw a JD10 at the end of the chain and DI'd... easy peasy. No drummer, but if there had been one there was loads of monitoring and Mr sound guy was right on it... would have been fine.

Real acoustic drummer = take backline unless you totally trust the sound engineer and monitoring...  IMHO

3 or 4, the highlight being headlining the second stage at Godiva on the Friday night. Going head to head with The Enemy although they finish 20mins before us so hoping for a bigger crowd second half.

Also doing the Red Lion one on the Friday night with Kojaks. Should be good weather permitting ...  if you come along find me and we will have a beer
