Project Tele

Picked up a pine tele body from the forum this week but can't decide how to finish it.

At the moment it's got a couple of coats of tru-oil on it but I'm thinking about the sea foam green colour that wudtone do.

Do you have to sand back the oil finish before applying the wudtone stuff?

Best to Pm @andypwudtone for advice. I've a feeling that sanding wont be enough to remove the oil. but see what the man says..  Green guitars are cool

  • Hi Guys, as long as you do enough sanding your OK, As long as it seems like your back to bare wood( and its just wood dust your creating )  your OK. I've never had any problem with an orbital sander (say 100 grit) on the front or back sorting the issue out in less than a minute, edges take longer may need flap wheel. . Watch for clogging and refresh paper if needed.  Finish sanding with some clean 240 grit along the grain. The Surfer Girl is pigment ( as well as dye ) based so not so critical.
Let me know if you have any more questions.
    kind regards
