Well I've just gotten back from the states. Having looked around a few music stores, there seems to be a much more healthy attitude to second hand gear in shops.
E.g. Sam Ash. Massive chain yet a huge number of second hand pedals all at reasonable prices. Like a mint condition jeckl & Hyde. $45.
Route 808. $50
Even rack gear. 4 channel gate again not at scratch, $60.
Now this was in mid town New York so a high cost area.
I honestly think UK shops are trying it on a bit. Often to even offering much second hand gear.
