FS: Boutique EVA 36w Plexi head and 2x12 Ulbrick cab

Hi, hello, good morning all.

I have for sale a halfstack with the following spec:

EVA (English Valve Amplifiers) 36w head
This is a genuinely killer head. They were handmade by a guy in Kent I believe, can't find much info, but it's a PTP handwired turrent board, 4xEL84 power section. Controls are Master, Bass, Mid, Treble, Gain. Single input, power/standby switch, 8/16Ohm outputs and a "tight and bright" switch on the rear which drops in a circuit that tightens up the bass and makes the mids a little more poky. Extremely expressive, loves pedals, good clean headroom but what you want this for is the range of breakup, from a little bit of hair to full-on harmonic sustain crunch glory. Needless to say it's very bold and British sounding but not entirely Marshall, more like Orange grit but with the tone stack out of a Vox. It's recently had a power section revalve with JJ Teslas and is in very good condition. I took this in a trade and the builder no longer trades, so I can't say exactly how much these cost new but from what I can find it looks like around £1,200.

I should add that volume-wise this is a very manageable amp, it can obviously peel paint when you need it to, but it will also go down to 'polite' and still retain some serious voice and character.

Ulbrick 2x12 150w cab
This is a gorgeous cab, black tolex and gold cloth and piping, with the logo recessed. I believe it's marine-grade ply, and the speakers are a pair of 75w Celestion G12H-75s. They're broken in and sound great. The cab runs at 8Ohms and is deceptively light and compact. Condition is good, it's been gigged so does have a few scratches on the tolex but nothing serious, Again, these are boutique cabs handmade by Dave Ulbrick in Australia so I've not managed to find original retail, but I believe these ran something stupid like £900 new.

Bearing all this in mind, I am aware of what the market is like and I would like to sell these fairly quickly, so I'm asking £700 o.v.n.o for the pair. I'd rather not split. I would consider trades only for a high-quality bass amp rig.

I'm based in Preston but I can deliver to anywhere nearish or do a meet-up. I'm prepared to ship but you bear the cost and the risk. You can also come and try it out if you like.

Here's a pic, I'll try to get more soon but you get the idea.

  • I'll drop this to £600 as I'm after a fast sale. Again, will trade for a decent bass amp.
