Come together

Does anyone know if the correct way to play the riff from the beatles "come together" is with the drop D tuning?
Just watched lennon play it on the live from new york gig and it looks different to the tab i've seen.

  • In both the Beatles Complete Scores and Revolution In The Head is says the original was recorded in standard tuning.

  • Hmm, ultimate guitar tabs has it in standard too.
Perhaps he used dropped D on the live gig then - it def looks different to standard by the way hes playing it.

  • IIRC Dear Prudence is in dropped D and written by Lennon?  Maybe he found he could use that tuning on other things live.
I’ll handle this Violet, you take your three hour break.

That's what went through my head.  It could also be related to whatever song was before or after it on the set list.

  • I think Lennon might have played it in standard tuning in E, I'm sure it was this version I used to play along to in E - does he play the riff on guitar?

  • Yeh, slides up to the start of the riff on the e string.
I'll have to watch the live version again closely methinks.
