Yeah! terrible isn't it. I have trouble with my fingernails separating from the nail bed so I can't take too much pressure on my fingers. When they go bad it's intense pain for a few weeks and no guitar playing. Mega light strings help massively in prevention.

but yeah, still a bit poofy ......

  • If you have problems with string tension, check out newtone strings, I have restrung my reso with their heritage series strings, also used these on my acoustic & there is a noticeable difference, mainly due to their use of round cores instead of hex core, they also have electric strings made with the same principle which I may check out next, all available from strings direct, mike b.

Any particular reason to use light strings on one? I thought resonators generally worked best with heavier strings, which is why companies like D'Addario make special 'resonator sets' - theirs are 16s. I've certainly always set them up with heavier strings for customers, I don't remember anyone asking for anything less than 12s.

Mine has 12s on too (heavy for me!) and seems to sound pretty good.
