    My son, now 12, has been playing the Squier VM Jag short scale since xmas 2012 (when he was 10)
    It's great. He can vary the sounds from the P/J pickups and the scale length is spot on.
    Build quality varies i think with the cheaper models; our first, the one I opened three days before xmas, had broken knobs and a rattly pick up.
    The replacement was fine,
    This is a vid of Joe playing it on the day after Boxing Day when we picked up the replacement.
