Right,

I've just been offered my Holy Grail guitar so need to free up some funds for it. If the guitar sells before either of these amps then they will both be taken down so be quick!!

Lazy J20H

The rarest of all Lazy J's, the High Powered version of the J20 and in my opinion/experience more useable for gigging unmiked than the standard J20.

It's fully loaded Reverb, Trem, VAC, Mid Boost, Tayden Ace speaker, Absolute Top Of The Line.

In Excellent Condition - it's been gigged but always flight cased. There is one tiny mark/ding in the tweed on the top of the amp but it's hardly a deal breaker! It also has a longer lead than standard (20ft) for the Rev/Trem footswitch so you can have it on your board.

Even as I'm typing this I'm regretting it so be quick.

Matchless Clubman Stack

The Clubman head has been advertised on here for a few weeks now but I thought it might garner more interest if I included my beloved matching Matchless 4x10. This cab sounds INCREDIBLE with any amp and especially with the Clubman atop it.

They are RARER than rocking horse and Matchless no longer make them. In fact, I have bought and sold this cab twice, the second time I paid more than I sold it for because it's that good! I challenge you to find another for sale in this condition in the UK!

So up for sale is the Matchless Clubman Reverb Head & matching 4x10 cab. 4 x Matchless aged Greenbacks. both come with Roqsolid Covers.

£2450 SOLD

This is wrong. You'll have a grail guitar nothing to plug it into to do it justice!

Don't do it, this has sellers remorse written all over it. Two truly world class amps there pal.

Unless it's an acoustic you're after, then disregard everything I've said.

Many thanks for the kind words and the words of warning also chaps, it is much appreciated.

The guitar in question is a 1956 Les Paul TV Special, a guitar I have coveted for at least 15 years (sold by a reputable seller who hopefully won't gazzump me and take a better offer after I have agreed to buy it like the seller of the last one did....but i'm not bitter....)

I appreciate the concern about selling the amps, particularly the J20H but the way I see it is thus:

These amps are current production amps, built to strict tolerances and readily available at any point - albeit in the Lazy J's case - with a waiting list. Should the situation arise where I honestly can't be without either of them, I can order either of them again and all will be right with the world.

I still have a great collection of amps in my regular gigging rig - it may be 'sacrilege' to sell it but I haven't used the J20H this year AT ALL. To leave it in storage, un-used, in my mind is sacrilege.

A 1956 Vintage Les Paul does not come along often so, with the sale of these two amps (and a couple of street urchins that live down my road) I am in the position to just about afford one.....

......Now wait for the thread where the seller has sold it to someone else on the same day these amps are sold!!! Would be just my bloody luck!! :-)

LP Specials are interesting. They can be significantly less vibrant and punchy than a Jr or a Goldtop of the same era. Good luck with the deal and hope you get a good one.

    Cheers Phil,

Owning a '55 Junior which resonates and vibrates to the point of almost giving me VWF, I can attest this and that base is covered! :-)

I'm hoping the TV will be similar, IMO they are at least equal in tone to the coveted 'Bursts but every guitar is different. I'm looking forward to going and trying it and will report back.

  • @miserneil  I think I know which guitar you're after; I'm sure you've already done it, but to take the risk out of the amp sales have you told the seller what you're trying to do, and asked for a bit of time to get organised?  We both know the seller knows the score.

I think your rationale is spot on, and am cheering you on here....

  • Ah yes, reputable guitar dealers. Like the one that sold me a refin 1962 strat and then when I decided I might want to sell it a few years later refused to get involved because the body might not be original. Well, thanks a bunch.

Too right. He recently relisted on eBay an aged 58 LP reissue for a grand more than he'd last had it up for - because he'd added some boutique aged parts, or so he told me.

To be fair, no one want's to actually sell through Ebay. It's just a shop window, put it up at an inflated price in the hope that a punter gets in touch directly...
