What can I buy gear wise that's cheap-ish and pretty random and will distract me for a bit?

    If hes feeling depressed stay the fuck away from coke especially.

    On a serious note, someone mentioned a looper pedal, great idea.
    Incidentally.... I bought a 2nd NUX Loop Core but didn't really need or use it, £60 or £70 with an enclosure and parts for a control pedal for it which I never got round to putting together.
    That's 6 hours stereo recording, a Boss RC3 clone iirc
