Hi all.
I'm currently working on my fretboard knowledge and also my powerchord muting technique.
Can anyone recommend some good easy songs that are largely based on straightforward power chords, if possible providing the chords would be great too ;-)
Ones I've been using to this point are Since you've been gone, Smells like teen spirit, Iron Man... - so I guess looking for stuff of that ilk really..
Cheers Guys.

But the riff can be played

Any number of punk songs are pretty much power chords.

Wild Thing
Louie Louie
You Really Got Me
American Idiot
E F# A B I think.
The intro is the 3 notes of an A power chord. Root, octave, root, fifth ( IIRC), each times 2 and then repeat until the drummer remembers to come in. You can Google the tab easy enough.
Sex Pistols
Anarchy in the UK
Holidays in the sun
Thin Lizzy
Jail break
Don't believe a word (single note riff/ 5 chords)
Judas Priest
Breaking the law

@monquixote in my (limited) knowledge of Kiss, I thought they used more sus chords rather than power chords?
I'll also suggest Iron Maiden
Running Free
Wrathchild
Anti-nowhere league (covered by Metallica)
So What
Or if the mrs/kids aren't within earshot
WASP
Animal

You can indeed but it's much less natural and doesn't have the same beefy sound. Much better to do it like blackmore does. I mean x55xxx xx33xx xx55xx etc.

Lol he's a boy ain't he!
If you're working on your muting then including some riffy tunes would be good as well - the ac/dc, billy idol, gun etc etc
Motorhead Orgasmatron
Motorhead Damagecase

+1 on The Ramones -- great fun, whole songs, no solos.
Pretty much the first songs I learned... and still earning a few quid with them most weekends!
Agree on the Ramones, try "Psycotherapy" for starts
F# - A - B (X2)
B - D - E (X2)

Megadeth are NOT an easy band to learn and are usually more riff-based than power chords, in fact all three bands are the same. Still, wonderful stuff for improving your speed technique \m/
