I like these Ebmaj9 shapes: x6333x  (which misses out the 3rd - could also be called a Bb triad over an Eb bass i.e. Bb/Eb ), and x63333 (adds the 3rd on the high E string).

x11333 for the way it rings, and x68786 because of the way that it sits (tonally and easy of fingering) with other mid-fretboard chords.

2nd chord in new york new york, after the first two x68866:
    x68766

By the way when it transposes up a semitone at the end and goes to the rall section, there's a wonderful sequence, try it:
    x79977
    x79877
    079797
    0 11 12 13 14 0
Ooooooh that last chord. Sorry for the hijack.

These are very cool, thanks!  I've been playing for a LOT of years and never saw this before.  I used to use x65343 but always had to struggle a bit or revert to x68886 which always sounded too high.

Mine involves tuning down to Eb but it's a really nice shape.

All of them! I play in Eb standard a lot.

Admittedly I found this shape while playing in E though.

lol, it is a nice E chord, so it's a nice Eb chord if you tune down a semitone! I quite like it as a nice A# chord (with a capo)

I find it hard to resist the temptation to end a jazz tune in Eflat with a harmonic on strings 3 and 4 -
    Ebmaj7: 11 x (12) (12) x x
